NFL news (non-Panthers)

Watching the 2024 NFL Draft and just heard that the Maye family members are legends in North Carolina. Learn something new every day!

BTW, not sure what hair coloring Lou Saban uses but definitely red!

Legends are unauthenticated by definition. In other words, bullshit accepted by the ignorant masses. Sounds right to me.

When Maye’s selection by the Patriots was officially announced, the word “royalty” was used to describe the family. :crown:

clt says pats just drafted another mitch

Year of the QB so far.

clt says tepper just had to have baby bryce after that salad

From what I gather, Maye has all the physical tools. Yet to be seen if that translates to winning in the NFL. I’m sure blitzing linebackers will disabuse him of the notion that he’s royalty

clt hopes the panthers trade up

Yeah, his dad had all those attributes 35 years ago as well.

Shoulder injuries did him in

Crazy how the talking heads said Panthers needed to move up last year to get their franchise QB because this years QB draft class was so weak.

Now I hear that C. Williams would have been taken before Bryce last year and 27 QBs have come off the board in R1.

And here I was last year saying the exact opposite. Weren’t there some “tank for xxxx” campaigns?

My recollection.

Between Maye and Williams and everyone else a R2 or later crap shoot.

Daniel’s was a 4th or 5th round pick last year this time.

Pennix was an injury scare and aged out on some boards. 2nd or 3rd round

McCarthy a 2nd or 3rd

Nix a system QB who had hit his ceiling 2nd or 3rd round.

Young, Stroud, Levi and Richardson all rated higher I thought.

I am old though so might be off but I do think teams are gambling more now on grabbing that QB in R1 and getting that 5th year of security with the costs of these QB contracts.

You may be right, and I may have been stuck on my opinion that there were at least 3 or 4 guys that were better prospects than Young.

If I were an NFL GM I would concentrate on the OL and DL then build out from there. Doesn’t seem like many do that though.

I think 18 makes more sense, the odd number games just seems odd with the final records. And a holiday after super bowl Sunday, yes Please!

I don’t think I like the trade the Panthers made.
