My recollection is that when Fox became an NFL broadcasting partner back in the 1990s, similar things were written - the network wouldn’t make any money on the venture.

Saw it live on TV. Yes, I’m that old and proud to say I’ve seen most of the greatest sports moments either in person or live on TV in the “modern” era, circa 1960 to now.
