I totally understand that feeling.

I can understand that but I told my daughters if they go to chapel hill they gotta figure how to pay for it and I will still hate the heels lol

Same. My kids went to NCST on Clemson so I have vested interest in them. The wife went to UNCA so I follow their hoops as well. Plus their arena is only about 15 min from us and we go to a lot of Saturday games

My son went to UNCW and cared little for sports there. He did meet his future wife there.

That reminds me UNCW transitioned to D1 hoops in 1976-77 and played the Niners in the Mine Shaft that season. In the mid-1980s had a really good player - 6-10 PF Brian Rowsom - who was drafted in the second round of 1987 NBA Draft by the Pacers. Ended up playing for the Hornets during the first two years of the franchise.

Anyway, Seahawks MBB has certainly enjoyed a good bit of success the past couple of decades.

My daughter practically grew up on campus. Now she’s down on the front row of the student section giving the opposition hell. A real chip off of the old block. I almost feel sorry for the visitors. Almost.

I graduated from FSU and Duke. Then I got my first ā€œreal jobā€ at Charlotte. (Early 1970s). We were just being ā€œplantedā€ (Cone, Colvard, Foster, Rose, et al.). I helped recruit and had the ā€œprivilegeā€ (in most cases) of getting to know the players as People, as friends. That’s what made the difference in who ā€œMy Teamā€ really is and has been since the 70s. The point is, that is no longer possible. I will literally have to learn the names and numbers of the 2025 basketball players. And Football….forget it! I count myself fortunate that I was alive (and in the right spot) to have experienced what ā€œhaving a teamā€ even meant! THAT was what made it a Culture! Those days are gone. And that makes me sad for the classes to come.

And that’s all I have to say about that!

Amen, 100%. First, damn you’re old  , I thought I was old, grad in late 80’s. The only loyalty left in college athletics is the stupid fans, I guess. I refuse to learn the names and jersey numbers on the basketball and football because most likely those uniforms will have different names on the back next year… I get the whole argument for the wild west that is happening now, doesn’t mean I have to like it. I am still waiting for when an NFL football player on the taped TV intro’s for the offense and defense has to say 4 schools after his name.

Old? LOL! I’m reminded every day! I still turn the TV/computer on and follow the score when it’s available (for all the sports) but I can just as easily turn it off, or wait til tomorrow to learn the final results. It just doesn’t matter as much, because I have zero connections with these kids. They literally could be cartoon characters as far as any personal identification is concerned!

Even i agree with NWA on this. He is 100% correct. People talking crap about ANY college team if they went nowhere is almost the worst, but THE worst is anyone who went to CLT cheering for the Tar Holes. Thats not even acceptable as their #2 team, or even their #200 team. They should be our absolute, most hated school, period based upon their history of trying to screw us over at every opportunity.

My wife and I went to school at Charlotte. We were in the mass of students that marched with the field goal post down from the old Belk tower to Halton arena. We played in the basketball band together and have many wonderful game memories. One of the best being in the basketball band when we beat Tennessee at then TWC arena. My wife and I will never stop being niners fans.

Love that! I still have that goal post - or parts of it, in my driveway!

See, we can all get a long. We don’t have to argue about former coaches, Basketball or Football MJG, unless is Lutz, AD’s (MJG) and iffy current teams. I am reminded of a current song, don’t think about what can go wrong, just think about what can go right. You have no idea how uncomfortable I am trying to be positive, but my Therapist said I have to be.

Hang in there, Elvis!

But don’t leave the building

Never had a college team in high school and didn’t follow sports much at all until the NBA hooked me watching the hawks on TBS.

UNCC is my school and I’ll root till I die.

I would like to live to see us play in a different division though.

a division where we actually have a realistic chance to compete.

Oh yeah me and my buddy keep talking about dropping our tickets cause we have been so frustrated lately.

I mentioned it to my wife and she very accurately pointed out ā€œwhat the hell else are you guys gonna doā€? lol

I met my wife at Charlotte. Luckily for her, she could not care less about athletics so I alone have to suffer in misery. There’s actually a photo on this site somewhere, taken by HP49er long ago, of me and my wife at a Cincy game. I’m up raising hell and she’s fast asleep, lol.
