Sometimes I worry taking my daughters to so many Niner related things will turn them off of the school but I am teaching them to persevere in the face of adversity and that loyalty means something.
At least I hope they think that and not dad is an idiot. Which may also be true.
Mark Twain once said that when he was 18 is father was the dumbest man alive, then Mark went away for 4 years and when he returned home he was surprised to see just how much the old man had learned in just 4 short years….what child doesn’t question a parent’s intelligence?
The fans that bother me the most are those that have absolutely no connection to the school they cheer for…I at least have strong family connections to Navy and Tennessee, went to Elon, ODU, GSU, and Charlotte has provided me a privileged career for 30 years…that’s why I’m a Niner, Fighting Christian (or Phoenix), Panther, Monarch, Vol, and Midshipman…they all seemingly fit my personalities which is often dazed and confused.
Sadly, especially for football, my girls first thoughts are “how bad are we losing by”.
Thats been my girls with basketball. They love the tailgate so how the game goes is less important. I cant convince them to come to a basketball game even if i bribe them with Picassos Pep rolls.
