Okay @BusterC417 with your nauseated face, is this version better?
Yâall are old with your music choices.
FTR, I donât particularly care for Metallica, nor that version of the song. I know, bring the hate.
Ecstacy of Gold has a deeper meaning than just a song, though. Itâs criminal that we havenât incorporated it in some way or another.
We should use this and incorporate our on field bell into itâŚ
I like the modelo version. Definitely need something timeless. 2002 or rocky top or wabash cannonball - those are about more tha. Popular music.
Honestly, this is all academic. Weâre relying on a decent intro to get us in the seats in time for kickoff.
When VT started playing Enter Sandman, did it get huge because it pulled people into their seats? Or did it get huge because they were already there and the song hyped up the crowd?
Our intro sucks, but even a phenomenal intro is going to suck if itâs played to a two-thirds empty stadium.
I would think that fans would want to be a part of the hype, really.
I think itâs both - a good intro will get more folks in - but it has to be good so that big night game with big exposure it all clicks and cements the tradition. A full house wonât make the current intro any good.

Apart from a really entertaining intro, I want to see a realistic Norm. I think if we want to be taken more seriously as a program lets get rid of the cartoon.
Why not both?
The âcartoon â is designed to also appeal to and not scare our little NINERS who also attend games and are future fans and alums. You want fear and horror, catch a zombie or Freddie Kruger movie. Norm looks fine.
Mine wonât stay in the stadium because the fireworks during the intro or if we come late, the scoresâŚwaste of a season ticket right there.
Plus sheâs afraid of anything in a mascot uniform, no matter how cartoonish.
A non-cartoon mascot need not be scary, though. Give a rising senior a scholarship to grow out his beard and be âThe Ninerâ a la The Mountaineer at WVU. That isnât mutually exclusive with Norm.
UVA has both a cartoon mascot (Cav Man) and an actual guy on horseback. Works just fine.
clt says norm needs to smoke again
I realize tailgating is the biggest part of why most people enjoy football games but it infuriates me when the team runs out to a 2/3rd empty stadium while people trickle in through the 1st quarter. If the crowd got pumped prior to the team running out through the opening kick it wouldnât matter what intro was played.
They should allow more tailgating before⌠that would help. 4 hours to get in, set up, make food, chill out, tear down setup and get to stadium just isnât enough.
Hell, âback in my dayâ, Norm would shoot a musket in the Mine Shaft. A DAMN MUSKET!! Glad we stopped that. I know that wva and appy still do it. Whatdaya expect a toothless old hillbilly to do but shoot his damn gun. Itâs the only thing that validates his life and existence. A big olâ BOOM! Yeah, maw, itâs me. You heered it, so I must exist and I proved it to all youâens and my kinfolk too.
I work for UofSC, and a few years ago they introduced audio to the video board < âGAMEâ âCOCKSâ > chant with arrows. Itâs actually pretty loud. If you hear the chant on TV during a game, it is almost 50% the video board and not the crowd. I feel like we could find a happy medium with something like that. I agree, no matter what, we need to find something coordinated to kick off the chant.
A coordinated FORTY - NINERS chant could be cool at the intro but there would have to be something else too (music and/or hype video).
But a sustained FORTY - NINERS until the team comes out could be cool.
We tried this early on with the video board. It didnât go well.
