I would think practice squad in Green Bay would be best scenario at this point. It is a guaranteed paycheck and they drafted him to begin with. They also donât have a great WR corps. If he is going to make it, this is a good spot. Panthers are also a good spot as their WR are not very good either.
Teams at times will cut a player they feel is more likely to clear waivers than one they donât want to risk losing. Their thought could be that Dubose with his lack of practice is more likely to not get picked up than Wicks or Heath. Thus they can add him back to the practice squad and basically hold onto him.
Practice squad players make $12,000 per week or $216,000 for 18 weeks. Thatâll buy lots of things at a Walmart
Dubose was signed to Packers practice squad.
I think this should serve as a cautionary tale for others jumping to the NFL with eligibility. Dubose is very close to being out of football while he could be actually playing this season and working on a higher draft selection. I think you have to be a 1st round guy to make that jump as a junior. Hopefully Dubose continues to stay healthy and works his way to the 53 by the end of the season.
You are right, of course. Very many athletes have an inflated sense of their own abilities. Always been that way, always will be.
On the other hand, there have been guys who decided to stick in college for one more year only to suffer a career ending injury before having a shot at the pros.
Easy for us old guys to second guess.
Doubtful he would turn down a 12k per week gig. A practice squad is just what Grant needs right now. He looked a bit lost in the last preseason game.
Is anyone listening to what Biff is saying? It doesnât seem like it. He says over and over that they are going to be different than what you normally see in CFB;; a throwback team not a throwing team; a run the damn ball football team and run the damn ball again team. That means Grant probably did what was best for Grant.
This team is built around defense and running the damn ball, which equates to winning by narrow margins, which is winning all the same, HONEY
Timmy Horne landed back on ATL practice squad.
I think Grant was hearing 3rd pick add that to the coaching change and he took the leap. Canât blame him. If you believe in your abilities and can make $$ doing it m, why not?
He was never going to be a round 1 or 2 pick, although I think he can and will make a great pro.
Practice squad is pretty typical for a late round receiver and especially when they missed most of training camp. Personally I think he is better off on the practice squad working with NFL coaches and players to develop, than he would have been staying here.
I always thought watts would have a great career hereâŚI know he was injured, but I think our coaching must have been part of the issue. You donât make an NFL roster unless youâre the best of the best among college football players.
clt says they forgot Nate!
clt says the name change takes timeâŚ
The foot is worrying everyone
I think Larry will play and play well, but his original injury can cause real problems even after success surgery, healing and rehabilitation, per my GTS research. I think we all probably know how tough Larry is and how strong his desire to play football is; itâs off of our charts. If Larryâs going to be dealing with chronic pain, he has the right organization and head Coach to help him play on game days and to protect him during the week between games. At some point, Larry might decide he doesnât want to deal with that pain and retire. Last year he was limited in most practices and still was a game day force, so much so that the Steelers resigned him, which they donât typically do with guys that might be limited by that kind of injury.
GTS on LisFranc Injuries:
âComplications post injury include midfoot arthritis, chronic pain, and pes planus , of which arthritis is the most common. â
âYou are more likely to develop arthritis if you had a severe Lisfranc joint injury that damaged much of the cartilage in the region. This arthritis might develop even if your initial surgery was successful.â
â LisFranc injuries can have long term effects on your foot. *Some people are able to get back to the activity level they had before the injury. However, it is common to have some persistent pain, stiffness, and weakness. This can happen even after a surgery and healing period that goes perfectly.â
