Niners @ Richmond - Jan. 5th

They don’t know the associative property in Vegas? Should be Charlotte -16.[/quote]
I’ve never soundly understood the ā€œ+ and -ā€ in the sports lines, so I had to look it up right quick…

As a rule, all sports lines with a ā€œ-ā€ sign before the number next to a team’s name indicate the favorite, while all lines with a ā€œ+ā€ sign indicate the underdog in the match.

To make things easier to understand and convert, whenever you see a negative sign, consider reading that line in relation with 100 first. For instance, a line of -200 means that for every $200 you wager, in the event of a win you get to collect $100. When the sports line is expressed using the + sign (which indicates the underdog), all you have to do is reverse the reading; taking the same example above as reference and provided that this time it is the underdog that wins, for every $100 you wager you get to collect $200.

That’s true, and I’m not sure if you’re referring to truninersfan’s post, but the +14 is just the points. Vegas thinks we’ll lose by 14, so you can take Charlotte to cover (getting the points) which means that you think we lose by less than 14 or win, or you can take Richmond to cover (giving the points) which means you think they’ll win by more than 14 points. Like I said, not sure if that is what you were trying to figure out, just thought I would clarify.

Charlotte (+14) seems like a mighty big number given our string of games. seems like easy moneys, right?

I learned a long time ago to never bet on the Niners or your favorite team in any sport for that matter; it has been hard enough for me to watch some games without feeling the urge to kick a box of defenseless kittens especially when money is on the line. However (+14) is a bit out there and a very very tempting bet indeed…

I thought Davidson was easy money.

Easy Money? - no such thing.

Richmond will be a tough game.
We will get tested tonight.

Richmond preview by J Felt at GreenTintedGlasses.net

Stop Harper and we have a game. If we let Harper shoot his season average for 3’s (51%), our zone will break down and it will be the Harper and Anderson show all night.
