you've been posting how long? you've seen how many players come and go? Its never happened in the 19 yrs I have followed Niner hoops.
certainly not impossible, but ALMOST unheard of.
I stick to my guns, that its not a player’s decision. Mom and Dad have to stroke the check.
I’m just saying that you don’t know his financial situation, he may have a trust fund of sorts for school that he’s never needed to tap into. There are a lot of factors that nobody but Dijuan can speak on.
considering that we have offered, Lutz must already have something planned to handle this, which means one way or another someone’s losing a scholarship if Noel comes to Charlotte.
But if he doesn’t, will we have a Jay Cutler situation where the player whose scholarship would have been Noel’s feels back stabbed and bolts anyway?
I would say any player who has some money of his own, is foolish to cough up 12k to gamble winning basketball games for a year. Maybe someone is going to make 12k this summer.
I have never heard in my life of any player sacrificing or asked to sacrifice his financial aid for another player. Yall can stop that silliness. IMHO
I wager someone is leaving. No info, just gut.
I seem to recall that happening at somewhere like USC recently. As for Dijuan, I think it’s not completely off base since he started as a walk-on, working for a spot on the team. I have no clue what’s going on and I won’t even try to speculate. I am just gonna sit back a wait for the good news…

I believe that was Master P’s son, which is exactly Metro’s point. The mega-rich will not miss the 12K. I don’t know that anyone our team has parents that fall into that category. 12K is a lot of jack.

Yeah, Percy Miller, Master P’s son. It makes me sick that him and both Jordan kids have gotten/will get free rides. Let someone else use that scholly for the betterment of the team.

Hold on Metro…
Although likely Andrew is currently in school, don’t be too quick to associate “number of posts” to Charlotte fanbase. I may only have a few posts but have been a frequent “viewer” of this board for years and have been following the Niners since the late 70’s as a kid. Graduated from here and few, if any, bleed green as much as myself.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy reading your posts/info as well as most other frequent posters. I mostly don’t post because one of you have already expressed my thoughts/feelings and it is redundant. But I agree with you nonetheless and do think is is unlikely someone would give up the schollie. Much more likely someone would leave and may be leaving regardless of if Noel comes or not.
Cibik, please kindly get in contact with us. Thanks - NA.
$5 says someone is giving up their schollie.
thats just unreasonable and void of logic, almost makes me skeptical. So lets say player A gives up nearly 10k per year for this guy, something on the back end has to be done. Thats not an accusation, but this just does not happen.
:lmao:
Metro, me and you are on SAME if-case scenario thinking.
NA, can I sue you and NNN for violation of my amendment rights??? hahaha.

So if your good enough to earn a scholarship but can afford to pay for college then you should give that scholarship up for someone else and pay for school?

Barack, is that you? Welcome to Niner Nation!
Can’t schools give VERY generous grants to players without scholarships. Grants more than the non-player would get at the school?

That has nothing to do with Obama… it has to do with winning. Greg Anthony paid his way his last season at UNLV allowing for another scholarship player if you can do it to help your team, more power to you. That said it isn’t for everyone.

Please don’t be so ignorant, you know very well that I’m only talking about a few exceptions. Michael Jordan paying for his kid’s tution is like me buying a 5 cent piece of gum. It blows my mind that they wouldn’t just pay their kid’s way so that the coach could add another scholarship caliber player. And if you don’t think one more scholarship player would make a difference, you don’t watch much college basketball.

QFT. Success in college hoops has a lot to do with quality depth. The more scholarship worthy players you have, the better the team will be. It’s as simple as that.
If in fact we do have a guy willing to pay his way for this kid to come here, I would consider Dijuan to be the guy. Now, if Dijuan tells a kid that he is giving up his schollie in order for the kid to come here and play, and that doesn’t convince the kid that Charlotte is the place for him, then the kid is not the kind of player we want.
I ask can we please stop with this idea that someone is going to pay their own way to land this kid? The chances of that are about as good as someone rolling the dice in craps for 4 hours straight again…
Chances are someone is leaving or rescinding their scholarship. Remember, they are renewable each academic year.
