Normbulance Evolution

OK So here is the update -

I finished up the major painting last weekend. The drivers side got a little screwed up because when I went out to put the second coat on Sunday morning I neglected to think that the paint that was in the garage over night was cold - so it caused some of the green paint on the drivers side crack. Not too bad though. I will have to sand and redo this part later - probably in the spring. I also need to put the signal lenses and some trim pieces back on.

The black is on and looks pretty solid. I had it run on me in a few places, but nothing major. I do need to go around a few areas with a brush and hit some tight areas I couldn’t get to with the spray. If I fall into some extra cash in the next two years will have someone paint it, but for now I am happy and I have less than $100 in paint in it which the wife is happy about.

I did buy a few Panther stickers to apply since the Normbulance will also be going to a few Panther games every year. Nothing too crazy though. Now that the base paint is done I will work on more of the 49er related graphics beyond the magnets and few stickers I have now. I do have a few more to still put on on the ambulance box section. I am planning on painting a large Destination Niner Nation logo on the hood and I think an old school UNCC logo above the green piece above the cab.

Only thing I have left to order is some vinyl lettering (Normbulance backwards on the hood, ninernation.net on the ambulance box, Norm 3:16 on the back, etc.). I have the green lenses on order and they should be here this week. I am going to get some seat covers from Walmart probably today and have my mom use her embroider machine to but a Niner logo on them. I also am planning on taking the large blank white space on the drivers side of the ambulance box and putting on vinyl wipe board material. This way we can write s*** talk about who ever we are playing. Sure it might run in the rain - but should be fun.

NWA :o …you are a freakin’ beast!!! ;D

Hey, don’t forget that I’ve got a pair of white strobes for you that can probably replace the red ones there.

It’s also easy enough to get amber strobes that can pass for gold.

Will be happy to take what you have!!!

That’s awesome, NWA. The only thing missing is a 49er license plate.

So does the kid stare at it a lot?

So, we gonna see the Normbulance at the tailgate Sunday?

It will be tailgating. However not with the school’s tailgate. I offered to join them, but they just gave me a link to buy parking passes for that lot which are $40 a piece and I will need two of them and I am not shelling out $80.

So I will be over in the lot between Latta Arcade and Picassos - it was $20 a spot there so hopefully its still that or close to it and I can get 2 spots for under $50. I think there will be a few other folks joining me.

Sports Illustrated’s Hot Clicks linked to a piece about Washington Redskins fans using an ambulance for their tailgate needs:

http://lastangryfan.com/2011/09/skins-fans-take-tailgating-up-a-notch-with-their-tricked-out-ambulance/

That led to mentions of the Falcons:

Washington Huskies:

Colts:

Toledo Rockets:

With names like the “Jambulance” and “Fanbulance,” I’d say you’re at least ahead of them in the naming department.

Great work! Can we see girls dancing on the roof?

I think since the Normbulance is promoting the school, they should pay your $80 in that prime location.

OK grill is installed and green/amber lenses are in!

Will shoot a video tomorrow of the grill. Here you can see lights in action!

Solid

awesome.

This guy has been trying to sell these 49er patches for awhile. Not sure if you would be interested in them for the seat covers.

Might be! Thanks!!

Will have to work on that

You may have thought of this, but another option down the road is under body LED/neon lighting. I was my telling my dad, who’s a mechanic, about the Normbulance and he mentioned it. NC prohibits red and blue (for safety reasons), but most other colors are allowed, definitely green. My uncle has green neon’s under his turquoise 33’ Pontiac and it looks pretty sweet at night. I could ask him where he got his and what he paid. I think it might compliment the green flashing lights on top pretty well, if you could find a dark enough green.

Just a little research looks like you could get away with under $200 if you can install them yourself. Looks like there’s tons of options-under car kits, tubes, LED, neon. Here’s a few links I found:

NC laws: http://www.ehow.com/about_6770939_neon-policy-cars-north-carolina_.html

Examples w/pricing: http://www.ledunderbody.com/green-ledglow-4pc-wireless-led-underglow-neon-lighting-kit.aspx

Just thought I’d throw the idea out there. You’ve got it looking pretty sweet so far, keep up the good work!

I had thought about some “street glow” on it - but had not done any research or anthying. Glad to see I am not the only one thinking about it. Thanks for the links - might be a good project in the spring!

No problem. I’ve been keeping an eye on them for awhile, trying to figure out how I might could use them. I thought about buying one and just framing it. Fairly rare logo to find.

I always liked that logo/script.
