North Texas Postgame
A blow out win to open conference play and NegativeNancy.Net continues? The first half was the best I’ve seen us play this year. Go Niners!
Free bobble head dolls and we did score over 9 points in the first half.

Lack of defense and rebounding can be papered over when the opposition can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Still not pleasing.

clt guarantees that we will not lose another game this year. Right that down.

Coach said from.the beginning he would not deal with head cases and from what I saw from JC, that could be the problem.
Not a D1 talent.
I hope JC looked around and figured out that Ajukwa and Garvin were going to outpace him for the minutes, and that he has met a/some recruits that we don’t know about yet that would keep him on the bench. Other than that, he hasn’t been here long enough, or done enough on the court, for me to really miss him. I do wonder what the JC stands for. Jimmy Carter? Julius Caesar? Jiminy Cricket?
Considering he didn’t play after the grades came out could that have been the issue? He is already off of the team’s roster page on the Athletics website.
Was hoping someone would pick up on this. Has to be grades. Price didn’t play him first game after grades were finalized and most likely told him he wouldn’t play until they were up, or may have planned on suspension? Either way, don’t call the guy a quitter when the timeline aligns perfectly with bad grades

Fun fact that will equate to winning close games. Charlotte has 6 players that currently shoot free throws better than 80%. 8 players shoot it better than 70%. Only Jackson and Griciunas are shooting below 70% on the entire team. The best FT shooter on the team…Vanhook. That is one area where either through recruiting or coaching, big improvement was made.

Some of my prayers were answered, it seems. Now, back to praying for some good big men. We are 1 good big man and a reliable backup for him of being pretty dang good.

I’d add that mark price led teams have had low turnovers as a strong point thus far too. Considering the turnover of players and the number of young players, its been an impressive stat thus far.
Rebounding continues to be a really weak point though.

Aren’t we also in the top 25 for forcing the opposition into turnovers? I believe I recently saw that stat somewhere.

Enjoyed the game. We shot lights out. They said they had worked with Braxton on his shot over break and it showed. We need that kind of Brax the rest of conf season.

I thought again Benas looked decent and should have got more minutes (of course, what we were doing was working this game, but I don’t understand him getting 5 mins at the start of each half just to not see the floor again).

N Texas - maybe they just had a bad game, but not sure what they do well. I liked that we got out early and then never really let them back in it. My guess is Rice will be a much tougher game than this one. Would be nice to be 2-0 in conf.

On JCW transferring: he didn’t seem very good anyways, so not a huge loss - maybe just wasn’t a good fit. At worst, he could have added some rebounding/inside depth which we need during conf. May be addition by subtraction if this forces Price to play Benas more out of necessity. Concern is the continuing recruiting problem that he looked like a 9th/10th rotational player in a year we clearly needed an impact big and knew we needed an impact big for a long time. Unless, I’m wrong Bergang is the only 4/5 Price has on the roster that he has recruited and he has played 29 minutes for us.

I don’t think letting your grades slip to the point where you can’t play second semester is particularly noble either. Dude was either a flunker or a guy who quit on his team, you take the pick.
