Observer Charlotte Track & Field Coverage

Charlotte’s Men’s Track & Field Program Captured Their Third Outdoor Track Title! The women narrowly missed their 5th straight outdoor title losing by 6 points to temple and 1 point to Dayton.

Local Athletes performed very well for us at the 2010 A10 Championships including Vance HS grad Adu Dentamo. The senior won the 3000M ST by 16 seconds, was a leg on the school record setting 4x800M (7:24), won the 1500M by .03 seconds, and won the 5000M for his 3rd Gold Medal of the weekend. Jake Deaton Moorseville HS grad won the Shot and was second in the Discus, Concord Native Jake Wainwright won the Decathlon as well as other numerous other great Charlotte peformances. The men won by 95 points the most since we joined the A10. Adu was named MVP of the meet.

On the women’s side SO Amanda Goetschius a 2010 Indoor NCAA All American in the 5000M and Indoor A10 MVP continued on her successes from the winter. She won the 1500M in a meet and school record time of 4:24 and bounced back from the 1500M to win the women’s 5000M by 40 seconds. Amanda is currently ranked 6th in the nation in the 10,000M (2nd in the East), 30th in the 5000M(16th in the East), and 60th in the 1500M (30th in the East). Amanda too was named MVP of the outdoor championships giving Charlotte both awards. JR Keara Thomas won the women’s steeple chase in kicking fashion as she out leaned second place to keep Charlotte’s streak of winning every women’s steeple chase since joining the conference. She also ran a 4 second personal best.

Please show some love Observer, show love to these kids that are working so hard for OUR City’s University. It would be really nice to get a recap after every meet we have in the paper and at least some previews and recaps for A10’s, NCAA, and home competitions. This would help our programs exposure and help with our recruiting and our fan base.

Thanks!

And did you send this to the Observer’s Editor or is this just for us Niners?

You’re asking a regional fish wrap which locates in chapel hole for a favor?? I could tell you that you’re wasting a lot of your effort and your time. Anyway, Welcome to Charlotte. ;D

We barely get these things for basketball.

Good job as expected, Ed! Let’s see if we get the respect we deserve.

Sent an Email to Mr. Utter who’s bio says he covers us Niners, he did a nice piece on the GOLF team winning, hope we too can get some love.

Ed, you’re the man!

Utter only writes stuff when he is spoon fed by the AD. Don’t ever look for anything original or creative out of him. His primary job with the observer is Nascar. We get much less effort.

Good work on a strong season!

I’d send that letter to the sports editor as well and maybe a few other names at the Observer. Couldn’t hurt to make sure they hear us.
