It is interesting about perceptions compared to facts, I did some digging not sure how accurate my numbers are, but, it is funny, this is not to beat up on Clemson, because I think they have a very good team this year. But just some interesting facts, about the perception of ACC bball programs and Charlotteâs.
NCAA tournament bids:
Charlotte 11
Clemson 7
Deepest NCAA tournament runs:
Charlotte Final Four
Clemson Elite 8
Wasnât the win Wednesday our 2nd win we have had on their campus ? I think Clemson is really good this year, and strong, also a good bball program, but was this win really that big of an upset ???
Is our all-time winning % against acc teams better than theirs?
Also⌠I was really impressed with these stories, especially the front page headlines and stories since 2 of our âsister schoolsâ also played each other last night. Of course, our win was the main local story. I had quite a few basketball fans drop by my office today to talk about our win, including a chapel hill grad.
âGoing into the game our coaches were saying they would kick our butt because we were mentally soft against North Carolina,â Booker said. âAnd thatâs what they did.â
HAHAHA IF THATS TRUE THEIR COACHES SHOULD BE FIRED
I agree. That is horrible if true. Why would a coach ever creat an excuse to lose 3 days before the game?!
Whatâs the series record?
2-3 Clemson

Just going by rankings, yes. Going by egotistical never attending the actual school ACC fans, yes. Given our own fans current expectations, yes. Given the history of the two programs, no.

You donât play with your history, you play with your team against their team. Upsets are not based on history, but on current perception. And, you get more splash for an upset at this point than winning a game you should win. Take it and run.

Mike,
Currently, what is your perception of the programs? This is a real general inquiry. Weâve debated this in the past. Iâve stated that Iâve felt most of the ACC hangs their status on UNC CH and Dukeâs accomplishments. And that once you get past those guys we are not that far off from the other schools. Specifically WF and NC State because theyâre local. Not trying to start something. Just wondering if your perception has changed any?

PLEASE tell that to NC State fans. Thanks!
