If you don’t subscribe, you really need to pick up a copy out of a machine today for this one. It has a frame-by-frame photo in three large parts, of Plav’s shot at the buzzer. Very nice piece…thanks Jena!
Good article…Good to hear our seniors are stepping up.
Outstanding followup story on “how it went down”.
“I didn’t see unbelievable confidence, but I saw Brendan had a look that he wanted a shot,” Lutz said. “I knew Eddie was with me. Absolutely. The other guys seemed to have a little doubt, but coach (Benny) Moss said, `We’re going to win it.’ He screamed it at the guys, and that kind of got their attention.”
Earlier Wednesday, Plavich had been messing around at Assembly Hall after shooting practice, sending half-court shots flying and making nearly half of them.
Didn’t some people say that shot was luck? Sounds closer to a 50-50 chance. Nice work Jena!
Very nice follow up article by Jena. You just have to love the attention the Observer is giving Charlotte this year. Thanks Mike!
Nice article.
Very cool article. Thanks Mike and Jena!
That deserves a standing ovation.
THANK YOU JENA!!!
We’ve never had coverage like this, or this good. You’re doing an incredible job and making a lot of Niner fans very happy.
Even the non-Niner fans in my office are noticing the coverage and commenting on it. All very positive, too.
That’s good stuff, right there! Superb!

Wow! I can’t help but wonder if Coach Moss had an invisible hand in this. I recall him being involved in the last great, miraculous come-from-behind Niner victory I saw.

Thats the one game I really remember from that season.
I didn’t think I’d ever think this but I really wish I had a copy of the paper today.
If anyone’s interested in dropping a thank you. The coverage has been unbelievable this year.
Send letters to Mailbox, Observer Sports, P.O. Box 30308, Charlotte, NC 28230-0308; fax to (704) 358-5110; or obsports@charlotteobserver.com.
That was a great article. The only thing missing in the play by play was my roller coaster range of emtions listening to the game on the radio.
It’s great to finally have someone covering the local team!
As i said before, it wasn’t brendan plavich who was lucky,(it was a 50/50 chance or so) . Us niner fans should give thanks because we are the lucky ones to have BP who can make shots like that. That was a fesitvus eve miracle.
Is it possible to order additional copies of the O?
Great Article!!!
Thanks Jena.
Thanks Mike.

Thanks Jena. And Mike, thank you for listening. Merry Christmas!
And the WKU game was probably the ugliest 49ers game I’ve ever attended. But an unbelievable comeback with Benny’s brick of a shot that somehow went in to send the game into overtime.
