As I said in the Coley thread, Wow. Great write-up! Definitely gets you fired up about the season. Time to email the Chancellor that we want to see what Bobby can do with this group over the next several years. :49ers:
I want to see what Bobby can do with this group…THIS YEAR!!!
Guys,
Not trying to rain on the parade nor trying to be negative, but we need to keep in mind that this class is pretty average of what we’ve seen. We just signed a bunch of kids; that is all Lutz has done to look good in the rankings. Keep in mind the Hoop Scoop rankings are completely bogus. The more players you sign, the more points you have. Their rankings are completely irrelevant.
Listed below are the “best” programs other than Charlotte to offer each of the following players:
Barnett: Richmond
Coley: Bradley
Mack: Utah State
Ngoundgo: New Mexico State
The best way to gauge the any recruit is to see who else offered that person. I’d say looking at these listed, we wouldn’t be top 30 and probably won’t be once the scout or rivals rankings come out.

Whoa. Slow down.

Valid points with just a couple of ammendments:
- GOONJO was offered by UNM proper
- Moxley was pretty high on Mack, which does make me feel better about it.
- Phil Jones if academically eligible (or if other programs had some cajones) would have wound up at a school like Indiana, Kentucky, or Mississippi State.

Ok, so I got a little carried away. I am excited about the new group, though. Last time we had a losing season, we rebounded the next year with a NCAA tournament appearance. Hopefully these guys will come through.
Wilderness makes the Scout.com Top 25 post-grad list at #21 (and Rhode Island’s Marquis Jones follows at #22).

If that happens I am find with an extension by the way.
Charlotte’s has boasted four top 20 recruiting classes in the last nine years, including the 2000 class that was ranked 15th.
This statement tells me all I need to know about recruiting class reports.
We’ve underachieved in the past with top 20 recruiying classes.
Does this year’s class sound encouraging? Sure they do.
Do I think they will be more productive than the last couple of years? Honestly, I think they will OR Lutz will be gone after this year.
But 'til they lace up the shoes…these are words on paper. If words on paper excite you, then good for you. I prefer to pay for performance.
We all know what Lutz needs to compete, but til they compete, we don’t know what’ll happen.
Rivals.com has their list of top 30 classes (as of 05/24/07) and Scout.com has their list of top 25 classes (as of 6/14/07) and we aren’t mentioned in either. Just to keep it in perspective, these 2 are the authority sites/services when it comes to recruiting.

That doesn’t bother me. Most of the recruiting services only hype up incomming 4 year freshmen. We have a few studs in Gerrity, Big Phil, Coley, and Mack. None of which are 4 year freshmen (well Phil could be, but still…).
Amnd in other news, Leinenkugel SUnset wheat is hthe best damn beer e v e r !
