exactly.

Also got a new basketball arena and an indoor facility for football…
It’s easy to ā€œgetā€ facilities when you have 50,000+ students to help pay the bill. They get ~22 million/yr in student fees.

The bottom line… I’ll take their AD over ours any day of the week. That’s the best way I know to sum things up.
We can piss over Judy for several things, but facilities are not one of them.
Halton is a mixed use facility and the plans were originally put into place by Jeff Mullins. The football stadium is the smallest in FBS. The baseball stadium is much smaller than it could be and we still have no indoor practice facility.

Ours will grow in time.
sure?
I feel pretty confident in saying that. I think it is highly unlikely that we don’t hear expansion plans within the next 2-3 years. Definitely not the 40,000 option because that would just be stupid, but I definitely think we’ll add 5-10,000 seats eventually.

We need to do it yesterday though. If we wait 2-3 years to even announce it our program will be crap by then. This tiny stadium will continue to kill us on the recruiting trail and on OOC home scheduling. Additionally, my main point was we could have had 40,000 seats and more for roughly the same amount of money that we spent (remember that is always our excuse for not doing things). I understand we don’t need 40,000 right now, but we could have atleast went a little cheaper and put in 20-25,000 seats along with a handful of suites.

Not disagreeing - just pointing out budget constraints eliminated one bathroom building. There are solutions - just not sure our AD cares to figure them out.

I don’t agree that we should have gone with the same style of stadium that UCF used. Also, are you taking into account that their stadium was built many years ago? FAU has an erector set stadium to and their’s was 70-80 million. Maybe you are, just curious.

I like that our stadium doesn’t take away from the campus aesthetic. In fact, it actually enhances it. I would like us to continue being mindful of that with expansion.

UCF’s stadium opened in like 2008 or so…about the time we were starting our football planning. Not THAT long ago. Close enough that cutting the seating back to 20-25,000 in 2012 would have meant similar money.

Again-----40,000 seats and MORE (in ~2008) for the SAME money we spent for 15,300 in ~2012.

Like, when the stadium was designed, why would you plan to put a light pole base in the drive into the stadium field? It’s narrow enough as it is. Hope it doesn’t affect the light output or create shadows or make for poor aesthetics.

Looks like that’s exactly where its at on the renderings:
I didn’t get a picture of the 4 ā€œinnerā€ concert stands for the light towers but they have significantly larger concrete pads than the 4 ā€œouterā€ concrete stands (like the image at top). The steel attachments seem to be the same on all 8 stands. Wonder if the 4 ā€œinnerā€ light towers will be larger.

clt says the sec will require better lighting, that explains the bigger pads.

Not the best picture of the larger base, but you can tell the size difference:

The circle of bolts in the two pcitures does not really look like it is a different size, just the column it sits on. I wonder if maybe it has something to do with how deep they drilled to pour the concrete. Or maybe there really is going to be a difference in the size of the light poles.

I wonder if maybe behind the press box area they are going to install lights that will be tall enough to shine over an upper deck, and at the other ends the lights just don’t have to be that high either because they will not have to go over an upper deck or because putting in taller fixtures when the upper deck is added just would not be a big deal.

I don’t know if it’s a height issue since the outer tower on the loading dock ramp will be at least 20’ taller than the other outer towers to compensate for the lower level of its base.

I’d guess they’ll be more lights on the inner towers so they’ll need stronger bases for the extra support.

So there’s a difference between the connection ring on the inner and outer towers so they’ll be a difference in the towers as well.

Also, the light mounts are here! Well, the first load anyway:

And here’s something that will piss off most here:
