No one on the Ohio board has any idea. No details have come out
I was caught by surprise like everyone else. There is lots of speculation on Bobcatatttack.com, and a couple who claim to have some idea, but who can’t post it. Neither is helpful. Most likely, the University became aware of something that concerned them, and they are investigating it before making a final decision, but what the issue is, and what the University will ultimately decide to do, I have no idea.
If Smith is terminated, yes, he was an outstanding OC under Albin, but he is not a QB coach, so he wouldn’t be a direct replacement for Fitch, if Fitch separates from Charlotte. Depending on what the issue is, Charlotte might or might not have interest in Smith as OC. Right now, I am just observing, and I have absolutely no idea what is happening, or how this will end up.
Let’s focus on signing day tomorrow, and wait for this situation to sort itself out.
