OK, How's This for an Idea?

Why can’t WE kill two birds with the same stone?

We have an opening (maybe more than one soon) for an Assistant Coach. Why don’t WE hire Malone? (Beasley’s AAU Coach) as an Assistant?

Thoughts?

How much do AAU coaches get paid?

what makes you think Mike is closer to this AAU coach than Hill?

not nearly as much as assistant coaches especially in big time colleges, he’d take the job if offered, I’ve said from the day they hired Hill that we should use that opening to our own advantage.

Mike is very close to his AAU coach. HIs relationship with him is just as strong with him as it is with me. I’m not all that sure that Curtis would be interested or willing to relocate to Charlotte because he does have a business. BUT, there are other coaches on his staff that may or may not be interested in the position. (One particularly more than others)… MomB-E-Z

Hmmm. Interesting. Thanks for the info Mombeasy!!

mombeasy for assistant coach?

your thoughts

Interesting. Wonder if Lutz has thought of this. Worth a shot, but if we are going to do something like this then we need to hire that individual for a career and not just to get Mike here.

As enticing as it sounds, I strongly disapprove of hiring a candidate specifically to package a player. I think good coaches are of the utmost importance. Hire based on what a guy will bring to the program for 6-8 years, not for 1 or 2. No offense to coach Malone but I want the best coach interested whether or not it is him.

i definitely agree with whit on this one. i’d rather see him here for a really long time where the contract is a good one. that way he would be interested in staying here. mom how long has mike played with DC?

Let’s hire Kelvin Price. He could bring in recruits, get the whole team jacked up, and kick the butt of any player who want play defense.

How about Kedrick Smith? I saw Kedrick at the Tulane game a year ago, and I think that he may be coaching with his Dad. I am fuzzy on this, but I am sure someone here will know, I believe that his Dad is a very successful, long-time high school coach in Louisiana. Kedrick was part of the LA connection we had when Butch Pierre was an assistant for us.

He and Kelvin played at the same time. Kelvin was at the Tulane game too, it was nice to see a good turnout of former players. Kelvin is boxing, working his way up professionally. Probably in training to take out Malik El Tamir, and then a bout with clt.

I don’t place any value on assistants being alumni, but Kedrick might be a good choice.
