100% of the problem is that Lutz is a 3 pter coach without a 3 pt shooter and he doesn’t know how to coach any other way. We have never and will never be a great defensive team with him as coach. We are what we are.

I think you’re sadly correct. This was pointed out to me by several posters several years ago when I was convinced Bobby could do no wrong and every loss was somehow the “players fault.” I have since seen the “light” and have realized that the program may have gone as far as it can with him here. This year was important for me looking at the program. I felt Lutz might FINALLY get away from the 3-point shot some and begin to utilize Phil inside and attack the basket. I had no idea the team would look so flawed just on some basic fundamentals as this team is. I wonder if we get beat in the first round of the A-10 tournament and don’t beat Rhode Island to finish the season, does he still get the extension last season? My guess is probably so since the Clemson win but who knows.

Lew is harmless

our problem is we have no ball handlers (1), adequate passers (1), or shooters (1).:lmao:[/QUOTE]

Harmless? :unhappy:

I honestly don’t remember, but I think the talks were already in work around the start of the year. I know if we had finished the year on a losing streak the athletic department wouldn’t have gotten my money.

Metro…thanks for restating the obvious…again. Why do we need to revisit this game after game after game…it’s not going to change this year and our backcourt is not going to get any better. Harris is no better and is actually worse than Dewey in the half court.

Granted, we only have one. But do not say we have NO ball handlers. Harris is the best handler we have had in YEARS without question. He is really impressed me this season so far and is one of only a couple bright spots, so give him due respect

100% of the problem is that Lutz is a 3 pter coach without a 3 pt shooter and he doesn't know how to coach any other way. We have never and will never be a great defensive team with him as coach. We are what we are.

Bobby is a good coach but IMO, he has always had a 3-point marksman (Diego, Jobey, Plav, Goldwire) and at least one defensive specialist (JZ, Basden, etc) to cover up his inadequacies as a balanced coach. This year, he has neither and I think he’s being somewhat exposed. He looks out of sorts without having someone he can depend on from the perimeter and I’m not sure anyone on this current roster will develop into that player. Ian is a far cry from the guys Bobby has had in the past to lean on and I haven’t seen enough from Coleman to even mention his name when talking about shooters like Leemire or Jobey.

Someone may develop into the type of player that Lutz needs but so far, we are a complete trainwreck. And even if someone steps up on the offensive end, we’re still a very bad defensive unit, which should be a constant, season-long.
