took my son to the Open House this past weekend. The University did a great job with the event. Gave me a good sense of pride to see so many prospective students walking around.
Best part is my son ended up wanting some gear from the bookstore and as soon as we walked out of there he’s putting on a Niners hoodie we just bought. That, despite all the fails he’s seen as I dragged him along to athletic events.
Great time and a great event by the University.

Great story! Charlotte is a fantastic school and both my daughters attended.
I love sports but it is not the end all/be all. I want us to win since winning is much better than losing but …
I made so many friends while I spent my 4 years at Charlotte and after almost 50 years we still get together at tailgates, concerts, dinners, and to play golf etc. A great education and lots of friends and fellowship is what is really important when you get right down to it.

Going through this process really reinforced with my wife and I how good we have it as an institution. We wanted our daughter to make her own decision but after attending events like the one you just did, I didn’t have to say much. It sold itself.
She had a serious flirtation with App…until we went to their open house. I just stood back and watched her experience what they had to offer. She finally looked around and said, “is this it?” Followed by, “I don’t think I can go to school here.”
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it until we get it right: if we can figure out how to have the athletic program that matches the rest of the institution…watch out.
