As most already know, Oregon State is without leading scorer and rebounder 6-8 F Tres Tinkle (20.2 ppg, 8.3 rpg) following an injury during his 31 point game versus Fresno State last Friday. In addition, their 3rd leading scorer from last season, 6-4 G Stephen Thompson Jr. (10.6 ppg in 2014-15), has missed the last 6 games for OSU after suffering a foot injury in their season opener. The Beavers play Mississippi State on Thursday, where Thompson may see some PT.
so does earlyniner!
but i have an issue/question re this ātheir best scorer/rebounder/playerā is out. so their starting seven are out with injuriesā¦do we celebrate a win? I know a W is a W, but comāon.
i want to see us back where we were when we could legitimately kick some serious ass. now THAT produces niners pride.
weāre headed in that direction. a player or two away. and we have youngsters on the roster who could be around to see it!
hope iām around!
Iām sure Iāll get killed for this one but whateverā¦
Yes Oregon St is a P5 program with probably double the budget we have, they are going to have legit size at every position, if we struggled with JMU and lost to Upstate Iām not expecting a win Sat⦠just the reality of where we are now.

If we do lose it wonāt be because they are good. Early on This looks to be a down season for them. I donāt expect to win but I think we should win.
I really wish we could get a nice crowd in Halton this Saturday. Despite the opponents, they have been winning and it would be nice going into this next stretch of games with some cushion/momentum. Really wish the AD would do something about lower bowl ticket prices. $25 is too much right now especially with our attendance. Can go to the Hornets game Saturday for less. We always say winning will help attendance, but how much winning do we have to do to get butts in seats? I know our fans/students have been used to less than mediocre performance for years, but what are people waiting for? A NCAA tourny, conference champ, top 25 team? Say we get one of those, my bets we still dont fill the arena. I like how we have a nice OOC schedule, but none of those games are at home. We donāt even have a big name game at Spectrum Center this year. Itās hard to create buzz without some of those big names coming here. I will be there Saturday however, gazing at all the empty seats, remembering the days when the only seats avail were the upper level and everyone standing.
*Despite my pessimistic outlook, I will always root for the niners. I am just a fan who wishes the best for his school/team and gets frustrated with the way things seem to be in general with our athletics.

Donāt underestimate how bad the Davidson loss impacts us. Being totally dominated by them back to back year and 0-4 over the last 4 has a big impact on the community perception of us. Struggling with poor teams impacts that too. No post season success in years and a NCAA appearance over a decade ago all contribute as well. I consider myself one of the pretty hard core fans - and right now going to games feels like a chore.
That is why I always say winning doesnāt alone mean anything. You have to win when you should (upstate), win a few you shouldnāt (Davidson) and then find some success in the spring. Until that happens Halton will be a shell of its former self. Then you have to have an AD that can create a solid game experience and value.
We used to play and walk around with an attitude. Not just the players but our fanbase. We had a chip on our shoulder and a desire and expectation to win - no matter who we played. We donāt have that now. Not even close.
