OT: Alabama on ESPN2

Good chance to see what we will be going up against a week from now. Their biggest test of the season, the Great Alaskan Shootout Championship game. Currently they are up 19-18 with 10 left in the first half.

Edit: They’re tied at 36 early in the second half. Bama looks really really good for a couple of minutes in a row but then they slip up and let Washington right back in the game. Let’s hope they don’t get anymore consistent before next Saturday.

Bama goes down 76-73. They get their bounce back game Wednesday against East Tennessee so we shouldn’t have to worry about them being too angry next week. They look flat unstoppable at some points in the game, but always let Washington get back in the game. A lot of really good players on their team. Withers will have his hands full against Chuck Davis, Basden will with Winston and Mitch with Shelton. Matches up pretty decent with us, their three best offensive players go against our three best defensive starters. Plavich won’t be up against their best offensive player like he was against Rutgers. Bama does run with 2 PGs a lot, that will be tough for us to deal with.

Really looking forward to next Saturday. Gotta get through UL-L first though.

Alabama made some unwise decisions late in this one and despite catching some breaks couldn’t pull it out.

Washington was missing one of their best players though.

Both teams were impressive. I really liked Washington's guards. Small but really athletic and could really handle the ball. Alabama is very long. EJ will have to play a lot of minutes to counter that. Withers has to have a huge game on both ends. Mitchell needs to push it. Plav has to be hot.

Davis looked pretty good, one of the best players I have seen this year.

What a tough week for them, should work to our advantage, must not get back from Alaska till very late on Sunday or sometime on Monday, game on Wed night, then travel to Charlotte. That should work to our advantage, hopefully they will be too tired to hit the 3.

Not enough time to prepare either, which is good because their asst. Early knows everything about us.

didnt we recruit Weber and Steele?

Is that Albert Weber? I just heard the announcer call him Al Weber. If that the kid from Mt. Zion, I think we did.

He doens't get much PT because of his defense. The announcers joked that he can score, but the man he's guarding will score just as many as he does. I wasn't big on recruiting until this year, but I do remember his name coming up when Alabama got Gee from us, two years in a row they took a top 50 guard we were after. Only way to get back at them is to beat them Saturday!

We recruited webber very hard, in fact I believe he was our number 1 target.
