OT: Majerus hires new assistant with some "baggage"

Rick Majerus has hired Paul Biancardi, a former head coach at Wright State and assistant at Ohio State, BC, and Boston U., as an assistant at Saint Louis. He does come with some baggage as he was implicated with Jim O’Brien at Ohio State in the recruiting scandal that resulted in O’Brien being fired by OSU and Biancardi stepping down as head coach at Wright State. As part of the NCAA’s sanctions against OSU, Biancardi was banned from all recruiting activities until yesterday, October 1, 2007. Hmmm…

DaytonDailyNews.com: Majerus ‘ecstatic’ to have Biancardi on team

I guess Rick waited until the right day to hire the guy. LOL.

I find it interesting that Biancardi not only lost his job at Wright State (UNCW’s Blaine Brownell replaced him), but that he was also barred from recruiting until October 1, 2007. O’Brien loses his job at OSU, then gets “rewarded” by the Ohio judicial system to the tune of $2.4 million!
