OUCH! Huge Bobby Story In O

I wish that we would move on…to examining what are real issues are.

This is not has never been about Lutz v. Major.

Good post by Zero and excellent point made by Alumnus.

I wish Bobby the best at State and whereever he winds up as a HC, and I also hope Major puts together a great team for us.

This is very misleading.

We are a public university. We are one of the cheapest public universities in one of the cheapest public university systems in the country. Of course our expenditures are near the bottom when we’re in a conference full of northern private universities. It is no surprise that UMass and URI are right down there with us for this reason.

Our tuition is $1,621 for 12 hours in the Spring 2012 semester, or roughly $3,200 for a year. $5,440 for all fees (not including room & board or books).

Tuition and fees (not including room & board or books) at Temple is over $13,000.

FYI, Temple is also a public university. I’m only stating this to acknowledge how good of a deal our students get.

NINER-ID, out of curiosity, do you have the breakdown of the A10 womens’ basketball teams?

State’s not that good. They haven’t beaten anyone good all year. Maybe that will change tonight.

How much of our budget is for recruiting? With that - how much of our budget is less in accordance to the cost of travel, etc. as we recruit southern states as compared to northern states? I would think we would lose travel money from having to continue to travel to Philly, etc. week in and week out though.

We live in a cheaper area with (presumably) a lower tuition rate. We also have a good recruiting base in the state of North Carolina - look at the local kids we go after!

I’m not saying we’d be at the top if everything somehow managed to be equally assessed, but I would venture to say we’re at least middle of the pack.

I just looked at their schedule. They don’t have a great win. Their “good” win would probably be against Miami. They do have a bad loss against Georgia Tech at home but no other bad losses to note. They’ve lost to Syracuse, Indiana, Duke, UNC, Florida State, Stanford, Vanderbilt and Virginia. Other then Stanford, those are all NCAA tournament teams (UVA is sliding some but I think they still get in).

Easier to recruit when you can zero in on the top 50 kids and pertty much have your pick. What is our recruiting budget vs. Xavier or Temple? Just curious.

If we are talking resources just look at the 49er Club? What has been our growth in membership there?

Is Clemson a fair comparison? Sure they’re ACC, but they’re hardly a power. Pernell could pull in recruits, but Brownell hasn’t seemed to be incredibly successful thus far.

Clemson spent $129,000 on basketball recruiting and we spent $112,000.

Very happy for Bobby and crew, but I felt this article was nothing more than an attempt to get Metro to post comments 40 times.

Metro likes to forget he said on here it was time for Bobby to go. It was only after we didn’t hire his tarhole wet dream Buzz that all of a sudden he decided Lutz was the man and should never have been let go. It’s fairly brazen hypocrisy put that’s who he is.

I for one I’m thrilled Bobby, Mox and Early are having success at State. I hope it continues. But one article in the observer doesn’t wipe away the reality of the situation that led to Bobby being let go.

So Bobby makes a good assistance coach? I wouldn’t argue against that.

Me, neither! I think he’d be great at scouting opponents, as the article suggests.

However, if you want your assistant coaches to recruit…

Anyways, happy for all 3 of them. I really think the loss of Early was a big blow to us. We were able to replace him pretty well with Nickleberry, but when he left, we had nothing left recruiting wise and that was one of the big issues that started our demise imho.
