Let’s be honest here, if we make our big run, like I think that we will, the Observer will probably just put us as 2nd fiddle to the Heels, Duke, Deacs, etc. It’s just ridiculous how such a good team isn’t lauded over like this team should be.
Mike P, when we get things going in the tourney and start getting lots of national love, maybe you guys at the Observer will avoid putting McCants, Redick, or Paul on the front cover after the first weekend. Eddie would suit that bill just fine.
Coverage has been very good this year, excluding game previews and the 1st page omission, IMO. Lots of feature stories (Eddie, Plavich, Curtis). Good photos and front page stuff. They jumped on board at the beginning of the season and I think will step it up even more now. It’s the the small things that they miss on…but that add up.
It’s my understanding that we received a little more coverage this year because of the lack of NHL hockey. If you noticed, the Observer gave ALL college basketball more coverage, & they have often either stuck us on the back page or conveniently omitted a big pre-game story altogether. Theoretically, we should always receive front page coverage or no team should receive front page coverage.
Maybe our students should start holding up “CLT OBSERVER SUCKS” signs at our televised games.
Oops… I almost forgot to say thanks to MP for the back page coverage.

I see my money would go to support Jack Hensley Trust Fund, The Niner Nation. Net and then subscribe with the Niner Report.com would be wiser choices. My birds will have to find different ways to keep up with the news other than from the bottom of their cage.
I get the Observer in Concord. Now often I find that things are different or ommited in my version, because it has to leave the presses earlier than the main edition. However, I did not see one mention of the Tulane game. Not even something telling me the game was late. The game ended just a little after 10pm, and that is usually good enough to get the score and the story. I wonder if Duke was at Tulane if I’d have the story in front of me right now. Did the Charlotte version of the Observer have the score or story?
I love hating the Observer as much as the next Niner fan, but can we actually make our NCAA tourny run before we start complaining about their coverage?
