I’m replacing some exterior trim on my house. Most of it is fairly straight forward. However, one piece of the trim needs a compound cut. I’m not even sure where to begin on how to determine the angle or how to make the cut.
The piece is in an A frame. It would essentially be the bottom piece of a triangle, with the point of the triangle at the top of the A frame. That part is not too bad, I can just figure out the angles of a triangle. The problem is since it is the bottom piece, it needs to slope away from the house so that water won’t sit and collect on it.
Probably didn’t describe it well, but for simplicity let’s say the angle of the triangle is 60° and the desired slope from the house is 45°. Any ideas on how to make that cut?
since it’s already cut at 60 degrees you would need to make a cut going the opposite way further up the piece you’re cutting.
pictures would also help. but you can make the angle using a protractor or even drawing a right triangle on the piece and that’ll give you 45 degrees. that may make no sense but without pics that’s the best I can do

Thanks. Not sure a picture would even help. Might try to put something in MS Paint.
