Panthers

We blitzed our corners/dbs at the end, but it was so obvious that it was child's play to pickup.

Me, to no one in general, about 10 times down the stretch: “Here comes Ricky Manning on the outside delay again… [GB blocker knocks him off his feet]… yep, owned again.”

We are blitzing late in the game, but we aren’t disguising it (varying it) worth a crap.

Our front four is atrocious on pass rushes right now, they are adequate to very good against the run, although our LBs and DBs still make too many stops there. Amazing because we used to salivate over getting teams in the must pass situation GB was in last night.

Morgan cannot cover a TE to save his life. I love his motor, but this is a serious weakness when the QB has 10+ seconds to throw to him.

Our RB by committee is killing our offense. Make Foster the feature back and use Stephen Davis situationally. Right now, if Davis is in, the only question is left or right on the up the gut runs. We are so predictable, it’s naueseating.

Colbert needs to be bumped to the #3/slot receiver and let Gardner have a shot at the other outside/#2. Call me crazy, but I think this will make both more productive. It’s not like Proehl is getting open anyway. Make him the 4th guy for our spread packages, or just let Foster lineup - I like his ability to make people miss in the open field much better than anyone but Smith.

My $.02.

PS - Favre still has a rifle for an arm. Don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise.

Here…Here…

What is the deal with Gardner? I mean, Colbert was a little bit more active than previous (although anything would have been more than we were getting). Why not give Gardner some looks?

It was good to see the TE’s get involved.

APB on Buckner and Peppers.

And what is up with everyone ripping the fans for “not being there” monday night?

I have talked to 3 different guys who were at the game and they said the stadium was wide open. By far the loudest it had been in a long time. They didn’t know anything about people leaving early. It didn’t look that way to me on tv either.

Okay, I know I’m going to ripped for this, BUT, am I the only one who’s always thought Favre is overrated?

Great arm, great energy for the game, great teammate (unless you holdout), I know all this. But he throws it up for grabs more than QB I’ve ever seen. Maybe it’s just supreme confidence, but he’ll throw you picks all night if you can pressure him a little.

Overrated? No. He’s a gunslinger, true, but he’s a damn good one. I think he’s been forcing it more than usual this year, but if you have a problem with him taking risks then you must want to kill Jake. Favre can still fire it 70 mph, on target, off his back foot. He only seems to struggle when he tries to get one off while being hit/taken down.

Talking about the front four. I know losing Jenkins is hard to deal with, but have the front 4 just got outplayed that much. I recall the year after Tampa Bay won the Superbowl and their defense was nothing that year and everyone thought their front 4 was the best. I agree about the play calling being way too conservative. Why on 2nd and 11 we give the ball to Hoover is beyond me.

Overrated???

Farve: 15yrs in league TD’s-385
INT’s-234
Rating- 87.2

Marino: 17 yrs in league TD’s-420
INT’s-252
Rating-86.4

Jim Kelly: 11 yrs in league TD’s- 237
INT’s- 175
Rating-84.4

Not bad compared with a couple of the leagues best ever!!!

I like Fox but I often feel he is stubborn. He gets set in his way and doesn’t want to change. Why not play Gardner? Because he is set on his two previous starters. Colbert is going to have to screw up royally to lose his spot to Rod. Remember he didn’t let Jake start over Peete. Why? Sure he put Jake in to win against Jax that year but his stubborness kept him from starting Jake out of training camp. Last example was he sticks to conservative offense way too much. We started off the Super Bowl playing that conservative crap and once he let Jake open it up it became a good game.

Gardener is still learning the offensive scheme (plays wise) is what I’ve heard.

Originally posted by ATL_Niner@Oct 4 2005, 11:36 AM The Falcons are 11-2 against the Panthers in the last 13 games. The way they run the ball, chalk up 2 more victories for them this year. Honestly, I hate them more than any team in the NFL mainly because of their fans, but they will continue to beat the Panthers.

We love you too ATL!!!

There is no way we are beating the Falcons with this quality of play.

You got that right!!! :stuck_out_tongue: :hammer:

There is no reason for a veteran NFL reciever to STILL be learning the plays 4 weeks into the season!!!

I think its just an excuse as to why we don't use him. If he's really that stupid then I don't even know what to say to that. I know playbooks are huge, but it shouldn't be THAT hard. Everyone else knows what's going on for the most part.

i doubt the panthers playbook is all that complicated either from what I’ve seen…although they did get a little creative mon. night.

Yea…running up the backside of tackles doesn’t seem that difficult!!!

Both Atlanta games are must win.
We need to win, so the dude from Atlanta has to keep his mouth shut at work.

That Gardner explanation is a typical Fox explanation, “We’re going to put the guys on the field that we feel give us the best chance to win.”

You beat me to it!!

If we don’t beat the Lions by at least 2 td’s then we are just terrible!!!

Peppers sack total for 2005: 0!!!

We have absolutely no excuse to lost another game until we face Atlanta in December (and even then, we don’t have an excuse to lose to them AGAIN). We really shouldn’t lose another game the rest of the year.

Of course, I’m sure we’ll find a way to lose some, and typical bad panthers playcalling will lose us others.

If we lose to TB by one game in the division, it’ll be because the refs cheated Det. out of a TD twice against TB.
