Wow, I guess part of me says I don’t blame him. To be known as a great DE you have to get sacks, this drop back in coverage half the time crap that the Panthers do just takes away from his talent. You know he’s going to want a 6 year contract which would make him 35. How many 35 year old DE’s are still playing in their prime. It just sucks we don’t have a first round pick this year, I guess we’ll try to replace him with a FA.
I’m not surprised to hear this news.
We need to franchise him immediately and then trade him for a 1st and maybe a couple of 3rd rounders.
Peppers: "I strongly feel that making a move at this time is in my best interest. I appreciate the entire Panthers organization and am thankful for the seven seasons I've spent with the team."
The Panthers have tried for more than a year to sign Peppers, who turns 29 Sunday, to a long-term contract extension that would have made him the NFL's highest paid defensive player, but he never agreed to terms.Yep, he's gone.
clt feels bad for the observer and the other wal mart unc ch fans who think peppers could walk on water…good riddance.
I hope the panthers franchise him and trade him. I don’t know if they could get a 1st round pick for him, but if they could it would at least give us something to look forward to in April.
It’s widely believed that if they franchise & trade him, they’ll get at least a 1st, and probably a first and a third.

Yes, they can’t let him go in free agency and get nothing.
We could secure some quality talent for him in the draft, maybe even a new quarterback.
He’s a lot of talent that is not put to good use. If he gave more effort, he’d probably be the best player in the league.
If they franchise him at the level that requires a 1st and 3rd it could scare teams away. Most teams view 1st round picks as untouchable.
After declining to say since training camp whether he wants to remain with the Carolina PeppersHuh ??? Who are the Carolina Peppers? I've heard of the Carolina Panthers, the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Carolina Gamecocks, but I've never heard of the Carolina Peppers.

This is a case of a Tarhole being a Tarhole.
This guy has so much value it’s ridiculous. We should definitely get 2 1st rd picks for him. Like we gave up for Sean Gilbert.
Franchise his Tarhole A55 and squeeze a 1st rounder out of him.
This is a case of a Tarhole being a Tarhole.
that is not usually a good combination. panthers can take his money and spend it elsewhere. and may be ok. they can get a decent defensive end and a good player for the secondary on that money.
There is certainly a possibility that we can turn this into five or so good players.
A) We’ll have cap space.
B) We should get at least one if not two first round picks plus mid-round consideration.
C) Albert Haynesworth is available and I think he would do a lot for this team.
The Cowboys traded a 1st, 3rd and 6th for Roy Williams and Detroits 7th rd in 2010… The Vikings traded a #1 and 2 #3’s for Jared Allen.
Peppers s/b worth at least what KC got for Allen.
See ya.
Thanks for visiting. But I’ll take people that want to be here.
No one is bigger than the team. This team has some holes, but is capable of fixing them before next season starts.
Remember…NO ONE is bigger than the team.
Part of me wishes that we’d just franchise him and keep him a year… but if he doesn’t want to be here, it won’t be worth it. Like others above, I hope we franchise him and trade him.

Hell no, that would be stupid as hell as the Panthers already are limited on cap space in the first place. Remember, Gross still has to be signed.
