Thatâs the job. Itâs the whole entire job. We arenât Brevard College. We have a $45 million budget. Success in football and basketball is the only thing that matters.
Right. That was with an institution actively working against them, in public even. Yet people refuse to believe anyone could be working against our best interests. We have a very naive fanbase.
To be clear, that was the UA system working against UAB football. Certainly havenât done anything to prevent UAB the institution from becoming the stateâs largest employer.
At whoâs behest Run?
CH doesnât care if we are the biggest as long as we arenât the best.
Hillâs job is to have a winning basketball program and a winning football program. He stated as much consistently from Day 1, all the while dropping excuses each failed season about why MIKE HILL could not produce a winning football program or a winning basketball program. How is that difficult to understand, that MIKE HILL has been a relentless failure?
Mike Hill has embarrassed our University.
Losing aside, Hill got played by Loser Sanchez; again and again.
Hill got played by Houston, who flat out revealed his naivety and lack of command and situational awareness.
Hill then got played by Healy. Hill was ready and willing to be fooled by Healyâs Adderall-fueled energy. I guess Healy quit on Hill when he couldnât bring enough add scripts to recruit suitable replacements for the Lambert crew players he inherited. Thatâs right, we owe the only winning football season to Brad Lambert, his brownies and Judy Rose; not Mike HILL.
Then Hill gets played by Poggi, who told whatever tall tales he could think of for MIKE Hill to buy each, hook line and sinker. Hill canât even understand that stacking turds donât ever make them a skyscraper, only a big pile of shit. The media wasnât buying Poggiâs nonsense, but Hill sure was and I dare say more than 75% of you all were.
Letâs not bring up Crocodile Dundee, as listing Mike Hillâs failures cannot be summarized in one post. Losers
Actually, UNC-CH does want to be the biggest.
Chapel Hill should halve admissions and become REALLY elite or better yet, close down entirely and become infinitely elite. Just a suggestion.
True I forgot about state getting ti final four.
Mean Joe I can understand what you are saying and I feel frustrated too sometimes. And each has his own opinion. But I do think that hill will get it right soon. But if I am wrong then I will be the first to admit it. But I am not complaining because you and others are more critical. Everybody has an opinion. I am not calling you out.
Letâs see UAB has a medical school, solid academics, loads more success in basketball than Charlotte, wisely started football in the 90âs, despite having their football team disbanded they have won two football conference championships (2018 & 2020), and got the City of Birmingham to build them a nice respectable sized football stadium.
I know they have to deal with the dumb Alabama Board of Trustees but theyâve been far more successful and resilient than Charlotte. Tuscaloosa is a less than an hour drive away from UAB.
All of that is true - just saying imagine where we would be if Chapel Hills board was our direct board instead of the indirect influence they have with the BoG and Legislature.
At least we have a freely functioning BoT made up of mostly people who love OUR university, not the one in chapel hill.
Iâll have to remember this one for the future

Do you guys think we could rehire bobby right now?
Sure, not as HC. You think Bobby would know how to manage Portal and NIL? He hasnât been in the âgameâ for some time now. He might still be a good gameday coach, but heâd have to have a co-coach to manage everything off the court.
Not specific to Bobby, but Ive been wondering if the revenue sports will eventually move to an NFL / MLB model where you have a GM who handles all the money and contracts and leaves the coach to coach and have input on who we recruit?
Seems logical.
Isnât that what some schools are doing now by hiring GMs?
Wasnât one of Bbâs conditions at UNC that they hire a GM?
The evolution of the structure will be interesting. Do you have one person managing all athlete pay but not assessment talent? Do you have 1 for non rev sports and one for football and basketball? Does each revenue sport get their own GM? Does the GM have say in evaluating talent?
So early in the new format that I am sure we will see a variety of ways to go about it.
Not reporting anything new here, but Duke was first to hire a basketball GM back in 2022. Definitely becoming the âin thingâ now in both basketball and football due to NIL, transfer portal, etc.
Oh shit youâre telling me you or anyone else had the incite that the FCS coach of the year wasnât going to be great after bringing us our first bowl game? Wait a sec, youâre also telling me the high school coach that turned around a failing program and had a strong recommendation from Jim Harbaugh at Michigan also wasnât going to be good? Was it the multi-star recruits in Poggiâs tenure that tipped you off?
Yeah, youâre right about Sanchez. A mildly successful ACC assistant coach certainly wouldnât know a thing about basketball. Donât even get me started on the hire of the former NBL coach of the year either.
I would love to see him in an assistant coach role
