And yet, with similar records, they also ended up with similar RPIsâŚcompetition must not have actually been that much different.
net is what ya need to compare since that is what takes you to NCAAs these days.
92 for nebraska, not great but better than our CBI title winning 116
Regardless - he will get more pub and respect playing there with a better NCAA path than if he stayed here.
FWIW, our final NET ranking was #98.
And yes, UN at Lincoln is THE school in football in Nebraska. In basketball, itâs Creighton. Not even close on the latter.
Briceâs chance of getting to the Big Dance via the Big Ten not very good unless the Huskers really step it up in year five of the Hoiberg experiment.
Bright minds might disagree on UN/Creighton. Below are recruiting classes over the past decade from 247Sports. The averages over that decade are in the last row.
Interestingly, not many have criticized Aly for his decision. Yet based on recruiting classes alone, BYU is a more lateral move than many other potential schools.
Guess when they start putting up banners for recruiting then the Huskers are in business. In what really matters, Creighton has 7 NCAAT appearances during that period - and would have been 8 as the Jays were 2020 Big East regular season champs - culminating in the Elite Eight less than a month ago. Nebraska last made the Big Dance in 2014, their first since 2000 and seventh overall all time.
When I referred to being THE school in a state, thatâs mostly a reference to fan sport, media coverage, apparel, general popularity, etc. Not just a measurement of on the court success. The point of showing the recruiting classes was to suggest, that even though Creighton has had better on the court success, UNâs recruiting success is still comparable. In other words, their clout from being THE school allows for their recruiting to be as good as Creightonâs.
What if the 2 schools on court success was switched? How do you think that would affect recruiting classes. I suspect Creightonâs rankings would creep up towards Charlotte territory and Nebraska to go below 50.
I donât see how Nebraska hoops are comparable to Creighton. In the end, what matters is the postseason and thatâs just not happening in Lincoln - either now or ever with an 0-7 record all time in the NCAAT.
All about the Benjamins
itâs just an advantage that schools with the state name have. Kind of like how we can have a succesful soccer season, but still have to play on the road in CH for the post season.
If these name brand programs can keep throwing big money at nonP5 talent it makes it much harder for these non power teams to hang. We may see some formerly less performing schools step up just by the talent they can buy. Under cuts the comp from G5s and fills their roster with proven talent all at the same time.
With all this portal action, there have to be some overlooked high school kids.
Agree but does a G5 school go that route and then lose them after a year if they pan out. This new system f@cking sucks.
Will just have to agree to disagree on Nebraska hoops. Yes, they have great facilities and pretty good attendance. But at the end of the day, if youâre a Husker basketball fan, your one claim to fame is the 1996 NIT championship for a program that began playing back in 1897. That and Charlotte Hornet Dave Hoppen!
Huskers open 2023-24 vs #338 Lindenwood (11-21) of the OVC.
Donât sleep on those Lindenwood Lions!!!
One thing for sure, Brice gonna feel right at home with the Huskersâ OOC with the addition of #347 SC State (5-26) of the MEAC:
The average fan doesnât know how good Lindenwood is haha
One time Niner target joining Aly in Provo:
Hoiberg definitely putting together a very Niner-like OOC, adding the #359 Rattlers (7-22) of the SWAC.
