Post your emails to the AD here:

The indoor hitting facility is something I remember us complaining about during our A-10 days. I’m glad it’s being addressed as it is probably one of our biggest needs

When will this newsletter be going out and who will it be going out to? Assuming itll be published on the athletic website.

clt asks for softball too?

Saw Judy last night in the club level and overheard her talking on my to the bathroom. Her words ā€œI’ll see you in Phoenix if I’m still the ADā€.

I’m assuming she was talking about the Final Four. The letters at the very least have her concerned.

Chair of the BOT responded to me. Just thought I’d share. Appreciate his acknowledgement.

Thanks for your thoughts, Michael.

Rest assured that the success of our university, including that of the athletic programs is front and center with Phil and Judy. They are welcome to provide you more specifics on their efforts to significantly invest in the athletic, as well as other programs, which we as trustees fully support.

As the chair of the board of trustees and a fellow alum, I also closely follow the athletic programs and look forward to the day where we see more success.

Take care, Joe

Yes, she was talking to someone from the Wake Forest AD. She probably shouldn’t have open conversations right next the bar/bathroom areas.

Reads like ā€œthe natives are getting restlessā€ sarcasm to me.

That’s exactly what it is, she’s so safe she is going to pick when she retires, let’s just hope CHP doesn’t let her pick her replacement also…

Safe from being out right fired and safe from being encouraged to retire are not the same things. Phil wants athletics to happen behind the scenes. He wants to not have to worry about them - good or bad. Emails to him copying the BOT means he is having to deal with athletics in a way he doesn’t like. While he wouldn’t just fire Judy, I don’t think it is out of the question the letters may have kick started discussions about retirement an exit strategy. At the very least they appear to have her at least uncomfortable - which is good. No one likes emails to the boss complaining about you, even if your boss likes you.

This is true, but do we want CHP picking our next AD? He will prob just pick someone already here ā€œfamilyā€ and nothing will change.

That’s what I took away from what I heard last night.

If the UNC System doesn’t mandate it (and I bet it does), then I am sure that Dubois has succession plans in place for all of his top leadership. There is no way he has somebody in charge of a $45 million budget, that is 66 years old, and they do not talk about retirement plans annually. We are going to be the last to know what is happening. Judy will retire on her own terms, and if you want to start a pool for when my advice is to look for an event that appeals to her. Unless we make it to the Sweet 16 next year, my money is on a super-successful fund raising effort and announcement of new facilities. Not only will this give her a high note to go out on, it will make the job far more attractive to replacement candidates.

All very reasonable thoughts

I haven’t sent it yet, but I do have a few thoughts.

[ul][li]Section 104 had people in it again this season. It is not full, and it is not enthusiastic, but it is not empty. Thank you for that.[/li]
[li]We may have the worst sweat wipers in college basketball. When we have people under the basket to clean up wet spots they are typically too young to understand their role, but sometimes just too disengaged to know that they are needed. This is first a safety issue and our team certainly cannot afford any sweat-related injuries, but when the ref has to get a towel and clean the floor we are not doing our job. Perhaps we should hire less ShowPro staff to guard empty seats and spend a few dollars on sweat remediation.
[/li]
[li]At half-time we show our 40 year old run to the Final Four. It is our highlight and we may never get there again, but when you have seen it a hundred times you no longer pay attention. Since basketball has no recent highlights perhaps we could show some from other sports. Call it cross-marketing.
[/li]
[li]Games against Division II teams are exhibitions. Stop pretending that they are not, and stop making me pay for them as if they count.
[/li]
[li]Your best donors are in the pre-game hospitality suites and when we give our attention to an assistant coach that either has no insight into the game we are about to play, or no ability to muster more than three sentences about the game plan it makes us wonder–are you the right guy for the job, or do you just have somewhere better to be than talking to us?[/li]
[li]The DJ has been a fun addition. More 80s Funk! Mother’s Finest, The Gap Band, Rick James. Students are not paying attention anyway, so we might as well make me happy.
[/li]
[li]Next year skip the half-time mascot game. Instead let’s have special cheer guests–the Topcats, Honey Bees, Checkmates, KnightinGals, Foxes, and of course the FIU Golden Dazzlers.
[/li]
[li]WIN![/li][/ul]
