That was awesome. He showed a good ability with the media. Had people laughing and clapping. He threw down the gauntlet on what success is. Most of the team was there so that was good. He talked about needing to improve the D and wanting to play exciting brand of ball. Everything about this worked. Seeing Buzz and Cremins among others and Hornet staff too was awesome. I would say he is very similar to Lambert in demeanor and approach. The room had an energy in it. Good stuff.
Also non-basketball tidbit - NEW FOOTBALL UNIS this season.

seems to work (if you are on a connection that doesn’t buffer… damn my work internet sucks)
A lot of emphasis on Price being our only choice and only offer.
Price definitely seems humbled to be taking this job. Looking forward to seeing where he can take the program.

I wonder if that’s because another coach’s camp claimed we offered that coach.

U was pretty unhappy with Wade camp spewing misinformation. He figured out that he was a safety net, didn’t like it, and came up with a cover story. Funny thing is his story in Chattanooga, what he told U, and what was printed in Observer were three different “reasons”. So his camp clearly has some synchronization issues.
Seems unnecessary. AD in Chattanooga comes across like a reasonable, rational guy.
After seeing the press conference and listening to the two radio interviews it’s very clear that we have a coach who is embarking on an unexpected journey at this juncture of his life. It seems like Price was content with the Hornets and possibly set on staying as an assistant until his son finished high school. I’m guessing Price saw himself as an NBA product more than college and had visions of a head coach position in the NBA.
Price is coming to a program that he was very unfamiliar with and really wasn’t even on his radar until two weeks ago. He is still in a slight state of shock that this is all happening to him.
If Price sees our program as a lump of clay that he can mold into his own design this will all turn out very good. If Price realizes that he has the power to galvanize our alumni base and draw the interest of Charlotte as a whole this will turn out very good.
Photos from today… love seeing Henry, and seeing MKG with our players… very cool
Just watched the entire thing… Wow, that was great, like JWA said. It still isn’t a given that he is going to take us to the dance, but you got to like the way he’s going about it. He knows basketball and knows relationships, I wish we would have hired someone like him 5 years ago. Excited to see whatever kind of team we have this fall.

You’d think our Development people, Academics and Athletics, would have made an effort to introduce the new guy in town, with a decent salary, strong interest in basketball, and access to millionaires, to our campus and the MBB program two years ago. Give his kids free scholarship rides if their grades are good enough, so he talks about the school to his NBA basketball friends with fat checkbooks on weekend backyard parties about what a great place this is. There’s so much untapped wealth in this city.
clt wants fried chicken after watching the press conference.
