Pro Bowl the week before the Super Bowl?

Sounds like it is being discussed by the league and the talking heads.

I really like the idea, though I assume that it means that players on the SB teams wont participate (get their bonuses/incentives but spots filled by alternates?)

The site would be the same site as the SB.

I really like the idea and how it would fill the dead weekend.

I think it’s a terrible idea. Nobody watches the Pro Bowl. It sucks. It’s basically just a free trip to Hawaii for the players who get in and that is the whole attraction of it. The skills competitions are the only things worth watching during all-star weekends.

That’s not a terrible idea. I’m sure the players chosen that make it to the Super Bowl won’t mind - they’d rather get a ring than play in the Pro Bowl. And, I’m sure the host city would love to have 2 games and a solid week of events than just the one game.

No, there is nothing worth watching. After the Super Bowl, football is over.

Now, if the Pro Bowl were the week before the Super Bowl, I would most likely watch.

uhh, isn’t that what they’re doing???
uhh, isn’t that what they’re doing???
It’s what they’re talking about doing. If they do that, I might be interested in the Pro Bowl.

The Pro Bowl sucks because there is no incentive to play it. It’s basically the best players in the NFL getting together for 60 minutes of 2 hand touch. Baseball made their game interesting by awarding home field in the World Series to the winning League. You can’t really implement anything similar in the NFL.

If the Pro Bowl is played a week before the Super Bowl, those who make it to the Championship would most likely sit out, making it less worth Watching.

Instead of having the pro-bowl, they should have the Gutter Bowl.

The two worst teams play…the loser gets the last pick in the first round, the winner gets the first pick in the first round.

The Lions and Chiefs in a pillow fight might be fun to watch.

I actually endorse this idea! I would watch.

to bad it would be the lions and the rams, but not a bad idea

dumb idea.
-Pro Bowl after the Super Bowl. It’s supposed to be a joke of a game that’s a “vacation and reward” just to get there in Hawaii. This is stupid.
-You guys are even contradicting yourself by saying “it’s a great idea…even though nobody from the SB teams will play…”

doesn’t matter when it is played the pro bowl sucks.

The pro bowl is a joke and we need only about 2 preseason games. Everytime an NFL player plays is another chance to get hurt, why risk more injuries for nothing?

I like the idea of a full week startingw ith the PB and ending with the SB.

But I also think there are too many preseason games. 2 would be best. 3 tops.

It is a good idea, if gives something of interest during the weekend off. Will I watch it? Probably not, but there is a better chance since I will still be in football mode. Who cares about awarding players with a trip to Hawaii…I think they can afford to go wherever they want.

Eventually the preseason will be scaled back to 2 games with the regular season being 18 games. I hope they bring back the Saturday day games in December.

So let me recap…

The Pro Bowl will now be a week before the big game.

This could mean that people will actually WATCH it now. Maybe.

Obviously players from the Super Bowl teams won’t be there, 'cause they’ll be busy with…well, with the Super Bowl. Still, the other good players from around the league will be able to get a little recognition and limelight.

So what you guys are telling me is that the NFL is gonna have an NIT?
So what you guys are telling me is that the NFL is gonna have an NIT?
because the only pro bowl cailber players are on the two super bowl teams?

The SB is about teams, the PB is about players and maybe conferences.

Before you say anything about alternates - assume the Panthers lose the NFC championship. Are you upset that DeAngelo is in the starting backfield for the NFC? Do you think he isn’t really “pro bowl” caliber?

I think there are other PB’ers not in the SB, but obviously the SB’ers deserve to be there, & they obviously won’t to avoid injuries.

2 preseason games only

Adding 2 regular season games for a total of 18. They would be like the 2 in-conference position games, but from the other conference and rotating every other year. So (for the Panthers) one year is an AFC East team and an AFC West team, the next year it’s an AFC North team and an AFC South team. So in the year you play the entire AFC West or entire AFC East, your 2 OOC position games will be from the AFC South and AFC North, next year visa-versa.

ProBowl stays the same. Moving it before the SB will make it worse and it will still not be a “real” game. Moving the site from Hawai’i also does nothing to enhance it.

Too bad the Player’s Association will never go for any modification that results in more “real” games or turning the ProBowl into a “real” game.

I don’t care how much money a person has; a free trip to Hawaii is sweet. On top of that, a lot of players are getting better with their money, because they are starting to realize that you can still go broke even when you have a lot of money.
