Quentin Jackson - 2016 PG - Signed LOI to Charlotte

I watched him in an all star game and I think he has a long ways to come before he starts. We have all four guards coming back next year so I would expect him to get 10 min as backup to Jon Davis.

Are you sure you watched the right player? The player I watched against the Burlington school was basically unstopabble. Probably more talented than our three freshman. Would still like feedback from the game you watched.

So he has NBA skills? Because you have said Jon Davis has a chance.

Have a hard time believing that freshmen are going to start except by necessity. Most of them cannot play defense at a collegiate level, even if their offensive games almost look pro-ready.

Agree. 0 possibility he starts at the two in front of Braxton. I expect our lineup to have Jon at the 1, Brax at the two, and White at the three. Scott and Q will be something serious coming off the bench however. Also, depending on what big guys we pick up and how good price or ajukwa are, one of them will probably start at the 4. If we get two big guys that are 6’8’'ish and above our depth will be 1237642x as to what it was this past year.

I haven’t seen enough of Jackson but if he’s a PG, he has an NBA PG body. Same with Davis, but I’ve seen enough of Davis to say he has NBA talent as well. Ain’t there yet but I have a good bit of confidence he’ll get there. I’d already take him over Pierria as my PG without giving it a second thought.

But I get your point, that’s why I was hoping he was an underclassmen. Q is without question legit! As good as our guards are right now, he could easily take Scott or even Whites starting job next year.
doubtful. He’s a pg. We need him to run the offense when davis is out. You saw how bad our offense was this year when Davis was out of the game.

They may see some time on the floor together, but I seriously doubt both start because that doesn’t fix the no true pg when davis is off the floor problem.
I never count on a Freshman to do anything, but he does have the skillset to force his way into the starting lineup if his game translates over to the college level well. From what I’ve seen of Jackson, he is defintely a playmaker but i’m not sure he’s a D-1 PG. Did he even run point for Cape Fear Academy? Even if he is a backup PG thats doesnt mean he and Davis cant play together. Just have to have one of them on the floor at all times. That doesnt exclude them from playing side by side 20 minutes a game(provided Jackson is as good as we hope right off the bat).

I think he can play the 1-3 in our system. Between Camidge and Pappas’ minutes, he could get 14 mpg (Pappas played enough minutes to put him as end of bench as opposed to walk-on status). Ogbueze was at 34.3 mpg, Davis was 32.3 mpg, White 26.2 mpg and Scott 24.7 mpg. They could play as many minutes but should they? We saw several games where guys were a bit out of gas at the end of games. So by tweaking minutes between them Jackson could get anywhere from 14-20 mpg as a Fr. without noticeably hurting the returning guys.

I can’t imagine him having a problem with that or the incumbents having a problem with that.

yes he did run the point but not all the time. from the time that i saw them play, the switched between him at the point and off the ball. i think they were trying to preserve his energy. he is definitely a d1 pg. he is probably more of a score first point guard than davis but he is not a ball hog by any means. his game actually reminds me a bit of davis but he is taller.

His handle and quickness is unreal. You can also see how athletic he is with some of those blocks

I wonder who number 25 is for Neuse. That kid was money. Cant wait to see Q in niner green!

Some speculation from my Twitter stalking, Jackson’s former teammate, like sasser, looks like he will be attending charlotte, unless I misinterpreted his uncc20 hashtag. Looks like a solid walk on prospect. 6’5". I’ll link some writeup but definitely a nice add if true.

Was just reading an article about his performance at the marshall county hoopfest last year. Sounds like he was one of the top performers, along with guys like skal labissiere(uk) and Dwayne bacon(fsu). Really makes me think that he could be an elite player here early. Just wanted to get some basketball chatter going again.
