Question

If we fail to sign anyone for 2010 and the schollies roll over is there a limit to number you can sign in 2011?

no, you can fill as many scholarships as needed, as long as you don’t exceed the limit

Ghost of the 5/9 rule haunting you TSD?

I guess that’s not really the same thing either.

You get 13 every year. Easiest answer.

I do miss the 5/9 rule though. It was the anti-Calipari rule. probably pushed Rodney White or Cam Stephens our way.

Yeah. I could not remember that change happening or not.

I was hoping we would have had a few more “bigger” names dropped our way (h*ll any names would be nice as quiet as it has been) even if we did not sign them since we are starting fresh with a new staff and these guys had some decent recruiting tie ins.

If it gets much later with no sucess you have any interesting situation. I can see taking a “project” every now and then but we have so many to give we need players. 2010 & 2011 will determine our future in a lot of ways.

I don’t think we’re too bad off for next year, but the year after concerns me a bit. Need some guys in the pipeline.

I read something last week that a member of the EEOC wanted to know why the NCAA schollies roll over year to year? The EEOC investigator was implying they thought it violated anti-trust to not just give the players a blanket 4 year schollie. I don’t know if the EEOC will do anything with that.

After all, if you can lose an academic schollie for bad grades, which is semester to semester, it shouldn’t be surprising that if you suck as a player that you could lose an athletic schollie.

The reason I was hoping that we would get a coach sooner was to get a few players for next year. I still thought that we would get 1-2 at the last minute, but that does not seem to be happening for this year. We will be really thin at the guard spots next year. We only have AW with any hops for the 3 as well. We are going to have to hit a homerun next year to regroup with all the loses this year and next year.

I still think we find a guard for this year. I think we’ll see Sirin get PT at the 2G and KJ mixing it up at the SF.

I still think we’ll add a guard, cause I think Major wants a true PG, but don’t forget about Javarris. He can play some 2 if necessary.

Answer.

Anjuan, KJ, JB or Sirin could play the 2. That lets Derrio and Briscoe run the point when the other isn’t on the floor.

Anjuan and KJ? I guess they could switch off on defense if JB or Sirin were in the game. JB and Sirin would be better suited to guard a SF than a SG, but on the offensive end they’d be much better playing SG than SF.

don’t see KJ at the 2 at all.

I can’t see KJ at the 2 either. I definitely feel he can play the 3.
