Radford (5-5) pregame

Radford is young, very young this year.

6’4 Soph, 6’ Soph, 6’2 Fr, 6’8 Fr, 6’4 Sr, 6’5 Soph, 6’ Fr, 6’8 Soph, 6’7 Fr. These are the players that have played in all 10 games for the Highlanders.

They are shooting 42.5% on FG’s, 34.4% on 3’s and 62.3% on FT’s.

Definitely not a top-tier team, but Charlotte needs to match the intensity that Radford will bring. RU is looking for any way to get their name out in the media, and a win over us would be huge for them. We need to act like this is a team that is better and perform! Not sink to our opponents level just because of their record.

If I’m not mistaken, last year Radford played a “VCU” style game, lots of full court pressure and physicality.

From the little research I did on this team, they have a new coach and seem to be in a rebuilding phase. They seem to have pretty decent young talent…I hope none of which surprises us. Looking at their schedule, I think it’s important to note that they’re 1-3 on the road so far. Hopefully the crowd at Halton gives good home-court advantage.

They had a 7’1" center last year who transferred to Duquesne this year. They had a thread on a forum talking about how he fouled out in just 5 minutes earlier this season against James Madison (completely unrelated to us playing Radford, but I’ve never heard of someone fouling out so quickly). Here’s the box score: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=323242184 - Martins Abele is his name.

Really would like to see a solid/convincing win here to give us some confidence heading into the FSU game.

We should beat these guys simply due to our size and talent. That being said I think we all know how they are going to play us. They are going to pack it in just like CMU and KSU, and force us to beat them with mid range jump shots and 3 balls. For that reason the game will be much closer than many of us would be comfortable with, but again our size and talent should prevail.

I would like to think we would start Braz and maybe even E-Vick this game. E-Vick has been playing well and can actually hit a jumper. Would like to see him be rewarded for his efforts.

It was a football game and was the primary reason it was close. But that was a home game for them, that shouldn’t work this time unless we get worse refs than usual.

It’s interesting looking at the scores. They have lost quite a few games, but when they do lose it appears to not be by much. Given how our offense plays, I wouldn’t be expecting a blowout, but the Niners should be able to win. Hopefully guys aren’t looking past to the FSU game, though this team seems to normally play focused enough to win the ones they should.

Fixed that for you. It was obnoxious the style of play they got away with playing. Hopefully won’t get away with that in Halton.

LOL Riiiiiiight…

It seems it has been decades since we had any home court advantage of the refs. I sometimes think we have more calls go against us at home than we do on the road.

Oh and welcome back… we missed you on the Davidson cross campus walk. Faith said we weren’t quite as loud and proud.

Pic’s?

I don’t see why not!!! Pics @ 6?

I can’t let you.

Their Coach is Mike Jones. These are his career highlights.

Can we please start Braz for this game and for the rest of the season now?

Can’t remember anything on this board I have agreed with more.

Same here. It’s driving me crazy. He to start and play 30+ minutes a game. This coming off the bench for 23 or 24 minutes is ridiculous.

Mayfield and EVN too.

Hear! Hear! Time to start all 3 and get serious from the get go. If we can slip by, slap, or punk fsu Saturday, the band wagon will refill.

They lost at home to Mercer and USA. I can’t imagine the meltdown if that happened to us.

Hell, Miami lost to Florida Gulf Coast in the 2nd game of the year. Too bad their bball team doesn’t have any fans to rip them on message boards like we do.

FGCU is a good team and that was on the road without their best player. Mercer and USA are 200+ RPI teams that FSU lost to at home. That’s Monstra levels.
