Who is doing the play-by-play? Matt Sweirad or someone new?

One positive of noon football is we might actually be able to hear the radio broadcast on campus because theyâre allowed to transmit at full power during the day.
We will have a network. This will not be a problem going forward. IMG has invested too much in us to continue ONLY airing games on 730am.
Yeah there is no way IMG will spend $8 million on our program to have our broadcasts only on an AM station that has very little coverage at night.
This is a high priority according to Tod Rosenswig, the IMG Charlotte GM (this is from October BTW):

Q. What are some of the things you need to fix?âThe radio network needs some work. We have a great partnership with (WZVG) 730-AM, but the reach isnât very good. In order to sell, we need a broader range. And that means by next year.
âIMG has committed substantially more money to expanding the radio reach, and thatâs not out of the goodness of their heart. Itâs because they want me to sell more radio advertising and you canât do that if youâre not reaching your radio audience. If you drive away from this venue when leaving a game, you canât hear it. Weâve got to fix that.â
Should hear something soon.
Iâd say Sweirad doing play-by-play for football is about a 95% certainty. Most schools use the same play-by-play guy for all their sports.

I think Matt is fineâŚ
Is Matt still doing play by play for the Knights as well? Havenât looked at their schedule but that may effect his ability to do our games the first few weeks of the season.
Donnalley knocked it out of the park for the spring game and I think Matt does a good job. Lanny Ford is a good dude but terrible on the air.
Lanny is kind of like Darrel Waltrip. Anyone who has seen a NASCAR broadcast knows exactly what I mean there.
I like Lanny overall, but Kevin is simply a better choice.
But Waltrip at least knows something about racing. Ford is clueless when it comes to basketball. Maybe football would be different, but Iâm glad we wonât get the chance to find out
âWOW!!!â
âHOW BOUT THAT!!!â
I wonder if weâll get a Brad Lambert Radio Show like they do at Wild Wing Cafe. Heck, replace Major with him, Iâm sure Alan wouldnât object.
Yes he is still doing Knights games. The Knight have a home game on 8-31-13 but it starts at 7:15. No other conflicts.
Yes, a Coach Lambert Show is part of our deal with ESPN 730am.
Truth⌠I would rather hear what Brad has to say about watching a basketball game than what Major has to say about coaching the game plus you have the benefit of Brad understanding why he is there and wanting to be there.

Lanny may not be great, however, comparing him to Darrell Waltrip is a low blow.
Darrell is absolutely TURRIBLE. If you followed NASCAR at all before Waltrip moved to broadcast booth, you need your head examined if you like him at all.
A test pattern is more interesting than Darrell Waltrip. Not to mention in public, he can be a real pain in the ass.
I have heard limited commentary of value from Lanny, which is more than Iâve ever heard from Darrell

Iâll give Lanny some credit here:
Heâs never used the phrase âBuggity, Buggity, Buggityâ.

Wonder if we can get the Brad Lambert Show on TV? If our games arenât on, at least we can get a 30 minute recap with Coach Lambert.

Heres to hoping something exciting happens with the entire radio show concept for any or all 49ers coaches. Been to a fair number of the shows since its been broadcast from Wild Wing Cafe and I quit going not because of wins or losses or any particular coach was/wasnât speaking. It was just boring being thereâŚeven when other 49ers coaches showed up.
Iâve been to funeral homes that had more exciting atmosphere.
Would be nice to think that IMG might do something with this to make an event that people WANT TO ATTEND, regardless of wins/losses and which coach may be appearing.
clt says the choice is clear for play by playâŚuh huh!
