Reco McCarter is a small forward from Goldsboro (NC) Wayne Country Day School. Listed 6’7, 180 lbs.
Per Rivals were are the only team to offer him so far. Has a lot of big schools interested though. Ranked 147th in the '10 class.
Taken from the Elite camp recently:
Reco McCarter: Perhaps the most impressive player of the day was 2010 small forward Reco McCarter. The Wayne Country Day School product is the 147th ranked player in the Rivals 150 for 2010. McCarter displayed excellent passing skills along with excellent range on his jump shot. He was a rebounding machine as he grabbed numerous rebounds off of his own misses. He also slammed some alley oops home from 2012 point guard prospect Tyler Lewis. The three star prospect has an offer on the table from Charlotte. Coach Moxley has been McCarter’s primary recruiter.
My takes from the video: quick, long player that needs to get stronger to finish consistently at the basket. I wouldn’t call him an explosive athlete, but gets of the floor decently. Ok jumper, but definitely agressive at attacking the rim.
I know he’s a top 150 guy, but i think I’d rather have a guy that has a solid shot and better fundamentals than a guy that is ‘an explosive athlete.’ All you have to do is look at Mack and Coley. One super athletic, one not, however the one with less athleticism was more fundamentally sound and produced a hell of a lot more for us. I’m tired of guys that have shots or ball handling that ‘could use work.’ Freak athletes are fun to watch, but don’t always contribute to W’s.
what you also have to understand is that a guy like this might have more upside than a fundamentally sound player outside of the rivals 150. from what i have read, this guy seems to have a decent jumper so comparing him to coley is a bit unfair. also, i wouldnt exactly call mack fundamentally sound. in fact, i would label coley more fundamentally sound because he actually understood how to box out and rebound and was a much better defender. we need guys that fit into our system and this guy seems like he would fit our run and gun pressing style of play. plus, i just read espn.com’s evaluation of him and they described him as having an excellent mid range game and as a good three point shooter so we might not be able to tell as much about him from those clips as we think. when you read things like limitless potential, it gets you excited.

you can definitely see the potential he has. who wouldn’t want a long SF with bounce that can shoot and defend? But only our coaches know who we are in better positions with. I’ll trust their judgment, but it looks like he’s a Deac if he does well on his SAT’s.
Reco McCarter said that Wake Forest is his leader despite not having offered. Joining Wake on his list is Florida, VCU, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma.
Just saw this because of the bump. I thought Wake no longer looked at SAT scores when deciding what students to accept.
I was just browsing through ESPN, and noticed this. Not sure how credible it is, but ESPN has us as his number 1 on the list. He’s graded as a 90 and the #27 SF in his class. This would be nice to pull him in plus Guyn.

ESPN does this alphabetically based on interest level. Meaning we are on the same level of interest as Wake Forest. It’s nice that someone is at least pretending we have a chance at landing him.

Then why is Clemson down below Wake? That’s not how theyre doing it from what I see.
