Red shirting in basketball

Anyone no how this works?
I know if football, players can participate in four games and still redshirt.
Theoretically, could a player play in nine games and still be a red shirt?

Teams may designate a player as a "redshirt," allowing a non-competing player an opportunity to save a year of eligibility to be used at a later time. The player may not compete at any time during his redshirt season or he risks losing the designation and a year of eligibility.

We got mike Thorne a medical redshirt after he played a few games. Not sure the process

Looks like Younger just announced in on his Instagram he intends to transferโ€ฆ Iโ€™m guessing we will have one more transfer before the end of the season

A medical redshirt requires that the athlete participated in 30% or less of the teamโ€™s games and that the injury occurred before the midpoint of the season. For basketball, that would be nine games or fewer.
