Red shirting in basketball

Anyone no how this works?
I know if football, players can participate in four games and still redshirt.
Theoretically, could a player play in nine games and still be a red shirt?

Teams may designate a player as a "redshirt," allowing a non-competing player an opportunity to save a year of eligibility to be used at a later time. The player may not compete at any time during his redshirt season or he risks losing the designation and a year of eligibility.

We got mike Thorne a medical redshirt after he played a few games. Not sure the process

Looks like Younger just announced in on his Instagram he intends to transfer… I’m guessing we will have one more transfer before the end of the season

A medical redshirt requires that the athlete participated in 30% or less of the team’s games and that the injury occurred before the midpoint of the season. For basketball, that would be nine games or fewer.
