Rest of the season

I was looking at the schedule after last nights game and I we are about to enter into a tougher stretch of games. There aren’t that many easy wins left on this schedule, and this team isn’t playing well enough to call any game an easy win. After Valpo, we play #16 Indiana and at Rutgers back to back. After those games we go into the A-10. Almost all of the A-10 teams are going to give us a hard time. We need to find something this week in practice or any hope we have of post season play will be out the window.

The good news is that we have a week off before Valpo, so some time to develope.

Maybe I see the glass half full, but I believe we will be OK. The A 10 is not CUSA and Lutz teams always start like this. Alot of new people to jell together, we will be fine.

Let’s hope we make the most of it.

I was really encouraged by the Davidson game. It looked like we were back on track offensively and defensively. Even though Withers was not his normal self, it sounded as if the team was driving to the basket early and using the three ball as a second option (a very effective three ball, I might add)

We were off-track against Lafayette. I tip my hat to LL, they played hard and never let up. But let’s face it, if they did not suspend Southal and the two other guys, we could have been crushed by an 0-3 team. My fear is that they are reverting to bad habits and returning to the same disorganized mess that was able to beat Coppin State.

The good news? I think Lutz has drawn the same conclusion. I loved the comments he made and I love it when coaches are not satisfied with a win. You can come up with all the excuses you want for the lackluster performance, but the fact is we gotta be ready for the greater challenges that await.

I was really mad at Lutz at the beginnning of this season after losing to NW and Wyoming and saying that “The team wasn’t ready”.

But since then, I’ve gained more and more respect for him. He knows that his team can be good but, as of right now they aren’t. Some coaches would take a win and use it as a building block to inflate his teams ego. Lutz is not gonna do that with this team. They are playing bad right now and Lutz knows it. If Lutz can pull this team out of its hole and win the A10 I say he is coach of the year.

noticed from Indiana’s schedule they play right now 4 games in 8 days, with the last game on a Monday night on the road against us, after a saturday Kentucky game.

We need to take advantage of them in the first 10 minutes of our game.

Valpo is in the middle of a Iowa, Marquette, Charlotte and Duke road stretch (tough one).

We have a significant scheduling advantage in these next 2 games, we need to take advantage of that in the first half of both games.

Good points on the scheduling. We just ended our 7 day stretch of 4 games. Will be good to get everyone rested, esp Curt heading into Valpo, Indiana, Rutgers!!!

Btw, Rutgers game will be on WTVI locally.

It will be nice to actually get to watch a road game instead of sitting in front of your computer listening online with the game tracker up.

Anybody can afford $5 a month for the yahoo package; i’m a student and I still can afford it. Hell, most of the time you can get the opposing teams audio online for free.

I’ve got the Yahoo package, I just have to wait for a televised game. Man, I would LOVE it if they had video broadcast through Yahoo like Memphis did.

True, any Niner fan has to struggle to get game coverage and you out of state guys have to suffer even more. Hopefully with more college sports TV stations coming online and more advances in technology, one day almost all the Niner games will be viewable in some form.
