Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz was called for a bizarre technical near the end of the first half. Richmond's Brian Morris took a short jumper in the lane and the official had his arm in the air signaling a foul. When Morris missed, the official signaled the technical. No Charlotte player was assessed a foul on the play.

like the technical but don’t understand why it was originally assessed.

It’s going to be tough expecting good officiating from a bunch of skating rink rejects.

A La Salle fan told me about a fan website where they rank the referees. Unfortunately, it's very biased - since it takes into consideration whether La Salle won the game or not. Last nights ref, Ron Tyburski, is on the list as "average". Here is how he is described:
Officials: Curtis Blair, Dennis Arinello and Ron Tyburski. Hoops Tick Grade for Officials: B (Above Average). Notes on officials: Ron Tyburski gets a "D" grade for a couple of really bad calls. The other 2 refs get a "B". Tyburski whistled Tabby Cunningham for a foul in the second half. Only problem was that Tyburski was completely screened from the play as Tabby made a clean steal. No way a ref can make that call. The second came at the end of the game and it actually favored La Salle. Wayne Marshall was called for an illegal screen with 24.9 to go and La Salle ahead by 4 points. If the call had not been made Temple would have trailed by just 1 as the 3 point shot connected. The call did not determine the outcome of the game but an assist from a ref is always welcome at Gola Arena for the home team.
Officials: Frank Scagliotta, Gene Steratore and Ron Tyburski Hoops Tick Grade for Officials: F (Failure) Notes on officials: This entire crew must be fined and suspended for the remainder of the season. They allowed Hofstra players to push and hack La Salle players and made only the "hard foul" calls. At the end of the contest with just 6.1 seconds remaining and La Salle still having a chance to win, Tabby Cunningham was tripped up by two Hofstra players. He lost the ball and no call was made by Frank Scagliotta nor Ron Tyburski who were both close enough to witness the hard contact. This non-call cost the Explorers a possible victory. Scagliotta's poor officiating cost the Explorers a win in the February 19, 2005 game vs. UMass at Gola Arena last season.

Of course in the last blurb, La Salle won by 22!

EDIT - one more I skipped:
Officials: Jackie Sanders, Kevin Ferguson and Ron Tyburski
Grade for Officials: D (Below Average)
- Ron Tyburski who gets an “F” made a few horrible calls and a blatant non-call that hurt the Explorers. With the score 49-40, Sherman Diaz had the ball at mid-court and was run over by a Delaware player who took the ball away from him and the whistles remained silent. Tyburski was the closest official. Delaware scored 2 points on the possesion. Doctor Giannini to his credit walked over to Jackie Sanders and told him that those kind of non-calls will not be tolerated. The other two officials get a “D”.
Here’s the scary part - the A-10 still has worse referees lurking around.

OT - Is David Booker sick/injured or is he in the doghouse? Travis Gordon and Kyle Church played but no sign of Booker.

I think booker might be in the dog house or just not fitting into the system this year. personal opinion do not take as factual information. He has yet to find a groove and needs to work on his endurance. Preston will fix him before it is all said and done with.

Charlotte freshman Charles Dewhurst, who starred at Charlotte Latin, has been cleared by doctors to return to practice. Dewhurst suffered a high ankle sprain early in the season and has been wearing a protective boot on his left foot. Dewhurst, however, is likely to sit the rest of the season and apply for a medical redshirt. He will have four years of eligibility with the 49ers.
That also interested me. I wonder when we find out if he medically red shirted or not. From what i understand we have one redshirt left available but i don't know if redshirting a walkon is considering part of the teams actual redshirting.

Man, Richmond really stinks. Saint Bonnie must be horrible. We aren’t good but could easily be 3-0 in the A-10. Talk about a conference being down.

I’m sure Saint Louis is thinking the same thing. Billikens should be 4-0 instead of 2-2 in A-10.

Man, I thought we were apathetic. Did y’all hear the announcers for that game!? They were actually qualifying the bad play by saying that we had the week off and they had a tough game at St. Bona. Come on! There was a lot said that made me think the announcers felt their time could be better spent somewhere else. What was up with the technical and can we do ANYTHING about these refs? I mean I figured if we (all A-10 fans) flood someone with emails we can at least get some attention…
