That’s horrible. I will keep his family in my prayers.

So young! So sad. Rest in peace.

Rodney, you were a cool guy. You will be missed.

So sad to hear this news…

Link w/ pic anyone? I remember the name, but can’t put a face with it…

Regardless, RIP =(

Wish these were in color, the center photo was in the gold unis.

wow
sad news for sure,
probably the best pure 7-0 center in Niner history
he was a gamer

When did he play? I’m trying to figure out if I remember him or have just heard of him.

the Jarvis and Henry era

Rodney was a huge part of our 17th AP ranking

Yep- OK, I do remember him. Thanks =)

I used to see him out at clubs in the offseason. Funny guy with some really colorful nicknames.

He allowed some of our better PF’s to play their natural position, and garner league and national honors.

I just can’t believe someone that young is gone. A real tragedy. :unhappy:

Very sad. I had a couple of classes with Rodney and talked to him about the team. Very nice guy and a good player. Sounds like he made an impact in his hometown after playing pro ball.

I had a class with him - really nice guy. He was a HUGE part of that #17 ranking that year. He destroyed the Tournament of Champions. We will miss ya big guy!

Rodney will lay in stated at the Kingwood Funeral Home. Services will be at the Second Baptist Church 11:00 AM Tuesday 20th.

Rodney’s family ask that those interesting sending flowers, send contributions in-lieu to Project Hoops, 2205 Spruce Pines, Kingwood, Texas 77345. This is charitable project that Rodney has been involved with for many years. This project has touched the lives of hundreds of kids and their families in Kingwood.

Dang, I hadn’t seen Rodney in years but he was a favorite of mine during those years. I always have thought he was very underrated and under appreciated as a player!Sounds like he was really doing some good in his hometown as well.
:unhappy:

i met the guy before a game in halton. nice fella. rest in peace.

I don’t think I’m being out of line by posting this portion of an email from Rodney’s father.
Even though, we have not been faithful to stay in touch with all those at UNCC, our family, including Rod loves all of you. Just last week Rod spoke to me about finishing his degree. He also mentioned that UNCC was about to field a football team and that they need financial help, so he was going to make a contribution.
Once a Niner… ALWAYS a Niner!

Sadly I just found out, his wife is pregnant with their first child.

I loved to watch Hot Rod play. In my 30+ years as a 9er, he was the best center we have had.
Sad times now. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.
