Well, yeah, but when they are pitching against my Braves it's a different story.
BOOOOOO!!!..Niners success trumps all other allegiances!

Highest 49er picked since Maine went in the 6th to the Oās in 2002.
Congrats to Lyerly. He will be joining a few yankees from my area including one of my best friends in Garrison Lassiter. They had a very strong draft class last year from North Carolina with DJ Mitchel and Garrison Lassiter as well as a few other I am sure. Great start to North Carolina player to play with the Yankees this year. Congrats to Rob and have fun in Tampa or Charelston with my buddy Garrison. I will be down in Charelston in about two weeks to watch garrison and maybe rob will be there too.

WOOO!!! YANKEES BABY!!!
Bud Selig let the teams know that he was dopping āsuggested slotā bonusā by 10%.
While it looks like the usual 6th round pick gets between 115-125K, he might only get 100,000.
This should be enough to purchase at least 2 FSLās.

I took a good guess earlier and said 150k and thats what guys got last year in the 6th rd.
Maybe with the Yanks he gets 175k? However the recession has been pulling sports salaries down a tad
as for a round by round analysis, its hard to say. It all is about leverage. HS seniors with schollie in hand command the most. If you are a 20th rd pick and have a scholarship, they may try to lure you from college. A college senior usually gets $1000 to $15000 because heās out of options.
All the 1st rd guys get 1m+
MLB recommends bonuses for each pick in the first five rounds, as well as a maximum for all picks afterward. Last yearās estimated slots ranged from $4 million for the No. 1 overall pick to $155,000 for the final choice in the fifth round (No. 172), with a $150,000 threshold for subsequent picks.Yanks will give him 150, IMHO also, the only thing that happens is you pay a penalty if you sign your pick higher than Selig's bracket plan, and we know what the Yanks think about luxury tax....
I love this off charlotte49ers.com
āI am so blessed,ā said Lyerly on his selection. āThis is a gift from God.ā
āMy sister and I were watching the draft on the computer,ā said Lyerly. āOne team called to say they were going to take me with their next pick in the sixth round and thatās when I saw the Yankees picked me. Itās all really surreal right now.ā
I have my doubts the Yanks are going to pay that high over slot unless Lyerly plays serious hardball with them (which it doesnāt seem to me like he will) and even then I have my doubts.
Nonetheless, congrats to Rob and hopefully heāll mash in the minors and move through the system quickly.
Imagine this scenario in a few years: Maine pitching, Lyerly at bat.

Just the thought of rooting for a Yankee makes me want to hurl, but I hope Rob does well.

this.
As happy as I am for him, Iām disappointed that he wonāt be back next year, and borderline disgusted that the Yankees are taking him away from us.

Yankees have a great farm system and a ton of resources. You couldnāt really ask for a better team to be drafted by.

You just donāt get it. Itās the Yankees. Thatās it, and thatās all.
You just don't get it. It's the Yankees. That's it, and that's all.
I do get it. For some reason, you hate the Yankees. A lot of people are the same way. You a Red Sox fan?
