Yeah, I have a feeling you will be coming back with no merchandise Jim. At least that’s my hope. Also, you’ll get a chance to possibly get a reaction from Chancellor Dubois.

I spoke to the alumni office this morning. They said that they had a few last minute registrations (myself included). I got the impression that attendance should be OK.
I had an email from Coach Butler this morning about attending.
i got NO email. not like i am going, but I assume that means a lot of people didnt get the email either. Unlike our university to publicize anything

how did it go?
I just wanted to give a quick recap of the event last night for those that could not attend. Overall I think it was a good event. I enjoyed talking with all of the other 9er fans. I’m not really a drinker, but a lot of people were talking about how good the alcoholic beverages were. The food was good and it was a nice atmosphere.
The issue of football was discussed and the Chancellor basically reiterated what he has been saying all along. Now is just not the right time considering that Charlotte is one of the lowest funded schools in the state and our current athletic programs are not fully funded… He gave the same argument for adding a Law or Medical school.
Coach Mox and Butler talked about the upcoming season, but did not really offer any information that we did not already know. I did find it interesting that when asked a question about what alumni could/could not do in terms of recruiting Judy mentioned the MB situation and how the conversations with mom b on this board were in violation of NCAA rules. If I’m not mistaken I think Judy also said that they had to report the violation. She said that the role that alumni should play in recruiting is to notify her or the coaches of players that they should take a look at.
They had some freebies to give away, but most of the time was spent chatting with alumni. Someone mentioned the possibility of watching away BB games in the new alumni house after it opens. I’m not sure if they were serious or not though.
(After the event there was a bad accident around Salisbury and traffice was at a complete standstill. People were getting out of their cars and talking in the middle of the interstate. I think I heard on the news this morning that a baby died in the accident.)
