RPI Tracker for UMASS
I’ll put money down we lose one of the next three and win at Dayton, we always play up to the good teams and down to the bad.
I would not take that bet. Not sure what is better…a loss to Richmond et al and win at Dayton or, three straight wins and a loss at Dayton. Of course, 4 straight wins would be great. I think our longest streak this year is 3 games…maybe we can top that this time around!!!

My biggest concern is separation from the lower half of the league. I want Charlotte associated with UMass, Dayton, Xavier and Rhode Island this year so that hopefully if the A10 gets 4 bids we will at least be in the hunt or discussion. If we can beat some of these teams and finish top 4 in league play, that would be better for our at-large chances. But don’t get me wrong, I still think we need to finish well in league play and win some conference championship games before even being solidly on the bubble.

We had a TON of our opponents come up with ROAD wins yesterday...helped us a lot!!

Where our opponents win/lose doesn’t help or hurt our RPI… only the fact that they win or lose.

You’re right…I just looked it up. Weird that the weighting aspect doesn’t apply to the entire formula. Only OUR portion of the formula considers the weighting aspect. This may be the reason why our numbers have differed so slightly. I’ll make the change in my spreadsheet.

I’ll take it!! RPI would be in the top 70 with that win at Dayton. Not to mention 14-7 is nice with 9 to play…

There are alot of people who don’t like this set up. I’ve heard people are trying to push the NCAA to weigh the opponents and opponent’s opponents records too (.6 for home win, 1.4 for home loss, etc.). I don’t think the NCAA is too keen on making the change just yet.

That would make for a complicated spreadsheet!

It’s very easy…just ā€œCopy & Pasteā€ā€¦the formula is already being used. The hard part is tracking all of the wins and losses. Attaching a weighting formula is the easy part.

LOL… mine is already quite in-depth. I set it up so that all I have to do is update the wins and losses each day. The formulas do the rest.
