Rutgers 2004-05 prospectus

ScarletKnights.com: Rutgers Men’s Basketball 2004-05 Preview [NOTE: .pdf file]

The RU game scares me, they play alot like Charlotte, especially when we had nothing inside. They drop three’s as often as we do and when their shooters are hot they can beat anyone. RU is really strong at home, and pretty bad on the road, they beat some good teams last year and lost some close games to good teams, most Big East coach’s hate to play RU and Waters is a solid coach, again they remind me of Charlotte pre-withers. If we lose this game I am never going to hear the end of it. Flying down to Halton with three RU grads for this one. RU might smoke us when we play at the RAC next year, especially if Withers leaves early. At least RU will help our RPI, I have been waiting along time for this matchup

That makes me wonder – was Waters the coach at Kent the year they beat us in Halton?

Wasn’t Waters Kent State’s coach the year they beat us in Halton (despite #45’s blocks)?

If so, there’s your motivation.

At least they lost their two best rebounders/interior defenders. That should help some if they aren’t shooting well.

I think Waters was at Richmond when they made a good run in the NCAA tourn. I think Richmond was a 15 and beat 2 Syracuse. First time a 15 beat a 2?

Yes, Waters was the coach at Kent on that fateful day in December, 1998…

Dec. 2 at UNC-Charlotte
Charlotte, N.C.

Kent (5-1, 1-0 MAC) built a 25-18 halftime lead and held on for the 53-50 victory at UNC-Charlotte. The Flashes shot 52.6 percent (10/19) from the floor in the second half and 40.4 percent for the game (21/52) in the win. Junior center John Whorton had a game-high 20 points and a team-high seven boards on the night. Sophomore Kyrem Massey was the only other Kent player in double figures in scoring with 10 points. The Flashes used a balanced attack with eight of the 11 players scoring and nine players seeing at least 10 minutes of game action.
