Rutgers Preview

From the Scarlet Knights web page, their preview of the game:

I was hoping they would provide a more thorough scouting report on our team from their perspective.

I am sure Eddie knows Ricky Shields. Looks like they are both the same age and from Upper Marlboro. Should be an interesting “meet and greet”

Has a nice ring to it.

Most people on the Rutgets message board seem to understand that this will be a very very tough game for them and would be a HUGE boost if they could get a W. Of course there are the optimistic fans there who think they should expect a win.

The best message I saw was someone who said something like: “it will be a close game, unless they have some kind of big man who can put up 18 and 10 against us.” I hope their team knows a little more about Curtis Withers than their fans.

Apparently the Rutger’s backcourt is their strength and their fans think they will have the advantage there.

Regardless, it will be a much better listmus test for our team than LBSU was. We will have our true, full team and we will be playing a top 50 team. They did make the NIT final game last year. Can’t wait to see how our guys fair against a legitimate NCAA tourny contending team.

I think they will be a good test, but keep in mind that this team lost its two best frontcourt players, and Adrian Hill is out with some kind of ACL type injury (too lazy to look it up).

They will play 3 guards with two so-so big players and no frontcourt depth at all. None. We have to get the ball inside to Withers and let him dictate the game.

Excellent write up from their perspective

Bottom line is this … RU needs almost everything to go right to win this game. Foul trouble for the Niners, 3-point shots falling regularly, off-night offensively for one of the big 3 for Charlotte, etc. Halton … a building where Charlotte has won 80 percent of its games … will be sold out (or very close to it) Monday night. Charlotte has players that are NCAA tested and plays a physical brand of ball much like what we will see in the Big East … unfortunately, our frontcourt hasn’t seen anything like this yet, and I just have a feeling it’s gonna be a long night for the “New Kids on the Blocks.”

WOW…It feels great to finally be feared by some schools. Can the trend of message boards feeling doom-and-gloom continue all the way until say…Alabama? Welcome the juggernaut of Charlotte…bow before their physical style of play.
