Sad start to the MLB season

First, it was the Angels young pitcher.

Now, its Hall of Famer Harry Kalas and former Detroit Tigers pitcher Mark “The Bird” Fidrych

It’s a sad day to be a Phillies fan.
-I don’t know anybody else, but Harry K as the voice of the Phillies. :unhappy:
RIP Harry…you’ll be missed.

Kalas had a great voice. A few years ago, my Reds lost Joe Nuxhall. Nuxy was not a great broadcaster, but was such a strong identity to Reds baseball, my earliest baseball memory was my Dad struggling to keep a Reds postgame show on the air while we were traveling one summer. Just because he wanted to hear Joe’s signoff “This is the ole Left Hander, rounding Third and heading for Home.”

Many years later I was in Cincinnati with my family. my son and I were in the car and heard Joe’s post game show. With no prompting (honestly), he started repeating Joe’s signoff.

After Joe’s death, I found one of Joe’s last videos online and could not stop crying when I heard him one final time.

I completely agree with that because one of my favorite YouTube videos is Harry calling the Phillies winning (b/c we were forced to watch Joe Buck on TV .) Now that video will hold even more weight, as it will be one of the last times I got to see him, since I haven’t seen a local Phillies game this year.
