Looking around, both the Duquesne and the X games were close until the end. And that Bama team is ranked #8.
Looks like Bama shut down Burrell, who had only 4 points, and Lavender, who had only 1 assist. 7 for 30 from the 3-point line isn’t too good either.
The Dukes really gave NIU all they could with only 7 scholarship players and no one over 6-6.
The frosh at Richmond seem to be playing well, as they picked up another W.
The nails are going in Anthony Solomon’s coffin at Bona…
No shame in that X loss to Bama.
But we really need our cellar dwellars to put away these cupcake teams. I understand why duquense is struggling, but Bona needs to win those games.

That is true, but to hang on when Burrell is cold and the perimeter shooting is dead. It seems that Alabama’s zone defense is what finally took the W. If the coaches watched the game, X may get a few more votes this week…
The Bama-X game was a good one. Bama took over in the 2nd half. Xavier looks stout. They are big AND can shoot. We will have problems scoring against them because of their overall size. We will also have to improve our defense significantly to have a chance to beat them, because they have scorers at every position. Beware the Johnny Wolf !!! All of the young Tide players we saw against us 2 and 3 years ago are juniors and seniors now. They look good. Very explosive, and all over the court. I hope Big Phil can turn out to be a Jermareo Davidson for us in a few years.
did you see Xavier the night before with their win against Villanova, they looked really good, they do a really good job of spreading the floor with their offense and really play well as a team.

They go inside-out alot, too. Their guards and forwards can penetrate and pass. They move the ball around quickly to to get the open shot. If 'Gelo can learn the penetrate-kick out like Zimmerman used to do, the Niners and he would score more. Duncan and Burrell both are good at doing that for X.
Not an opponent but somewhat surprising game last night from little ol Buies Creek.

Bama’s 2-3 zone stifled Xavier. They only scored 3 points once Bama switched to it. Alonzo Gee is incredible for Alabama. He’s related to Leemire and he was considering us before choosing Alabama.

Yeah, Benny has to be sick about that one. It was at Campbell and that place is high school gym. I actually went to basketball camp there when I was a kid. Sean Miller, Xavier, came in to put on a dribbling and shooting exhibition. He was a childhood-phenom. David Henderson of Duke and Curtis Hunter of UNC were conselors. Anyways, tough one for Benny!!!
X should rebound from the Bama game and be stronger for it. The Musketeers have a “breather” stretch of 4 home games versus American, Miami-OH, Western Carolina, and Detroit. After that is the meat of their OOC against Creighton, Cincinnati, Arizona State, Bucknell, Illinois, and Kansas State. Only the Creighton game is outside of Cincy, so X has a chance to really pad their record with some home cookin’!!!
Wow, that’s a really strong OOC schedule.
X is going to prove to be the class of the league. Theyre much better than I expected.
I think we’re playing for 2nd, at best.

I hope they absolutely destroy huggy bear. That would be spectacular.
We need to get someone at that game to have some sort of sign that says, “With love, from Charlotte” when they get beat. Not that we can really claim anything there. I was going to say I wished we played them, but I have a feeling the refs would have the police escorting a lot of people out of the arena that night.
Damn I wish they would play here. I think there might be a riot…
Just watched a repeat of the Ohio State-San Fran game. Oden didnt play for OSU. Conley and Cook are awfully damn good. San Fran has a couple of decent players - mainly Wiggins (#25). They like to get out and run on you, but break down on defense with good ball movement, and they get frustrated if you make them play half court and their shots arent falling. Sounds familiar.

I have no doubts that XU hates Huggins as much or worse than the most rabid charlotte fan.
