Sean Carter - 2007 PF/C

I know virtually nothing about him.

But there’s a new article about him on PrepStars (I can’t read it w/o a subscription): http://www.prepstars.com/index.jsp

And ESPN (but I don’t have ESPN insider, either :unhappy: ) http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/prospects?reg=South&pos=null&state=null&status=null&toggle=region&season=2007&set=2&action=login&appRedirect=http%3A%2F%2Finsider.espn.go.com%2Fncb%2Frecruiting%2Ftracker%2Fprospects%3Freg%3DSouth%26pos%3Dnull%26state%3Dnull%26status%3Dnull%26toggle%3Dregion%26season%3D2007%26set%3D2

Rivals does not list him at all, Scout has him as a 2 star, and ESPN has him as their #45 overall center!(though he actually plays the 4 at Laurinburg, NC). Is he just not good, or is he flying way under the radar (or scaring off recruiters because he plays at Laurinburg)?

PrepStars mentions that he’s 6’10" and attracting interest. He might be one of those overlooked Spring signees.

Well, his height is listed as 6-8, 6-9, and 6-10, depending upon the source.

Charlotte.com: N.C. Boys Basketball Recruiting Listings [NOTE: he’s listed under class of 2008]

Scout.com: Sean Carter profile [NOTE: this hasn’t been updated - still has him at Fayetteville 71st]

wilderness grade 40, gaby grade 51 #224 best PF in the nation.

That means he is probably 6’7…

[NOTE: he's listed under class of 2008]

Strange, Scout has him as an '07 and so does ESPN. Does anyone have a PrepStars account to shed any light on his recruiting?

EDIT: I noticed he’s the #7 overall rated player in NC for 2008 in that link, Run. The kid’s all over the map - you don’t know what year he’s graduating or whether he’s even Div 1 material or if he’s a potential high-major star!!
Found a new guy. Sean Carter, 6-9, 6-10 PF, C, Laurinburg prep. Would be a freshman.

Someone feel free to start a thread.
Looks like we’re recruiting him now. Don’t let the ‘Laurinburg Prep’ scare you - he actually has pretty good grades (received an academic achievement award in one tournament), but prepped to “increase his exposure”

Duquesne, GW, and URI have already offered from the A-10, as well as UNCW and Winthrop.

Speaking of the A-10, Steffphon Pettigrew – 2007 Mr. Basketball in Kentucky – will decide this week between Xavier and Western Kentucky. He’s making his official visit to X today.

Is Laurinburg still a black flag for the NCAA Clearinghouse? That might be why you’re not hearing anything about him.

Great, so he’ll sign with us, but be declared ineligible for next year.

Not sure if the problem with Laurinburg was the coach at the time (Chris Chaney, now at Patterson) and/or the administration.

He might be in the clear.

He played at Fayetteville before prepping for exposure according to this list (no source):

May 1, 2006 Here's the top up and coming senior class from 1 to 400 Class of 2007 ***=Reclassified Players 1. O.J. Mayo 6'5 2007 PG Cincinnati (North College Hill) OH 107. Michael Sanchez 6'8 2007 WF Springdale (H.S.) AR 213. Corperryale Harris 6'3 2007 2G Detroit (Redford) MI 302. Sean Carter 6'8 2007 PF Fayetteville (Seventy-First) NC 357. Jeffrey Jordan 6'1 2007 2G Chicago (Loyola) IL

If his grades are as good as they say then his transcript should be fine. I wouldn’t put anything past the NCAA, though.

Definitely on the radar after a good showing last week.

Yeah, I read that. We also need to consider if he fits in Lutz’ system…

We’re desparate and we’ll take whomever we can get at this point. Sad, but true state of our program.
