Shane Whitfield - 2013 PF/SF

Pamlico County High School product. 6’6, 188lbs.

Rivals - no stars, Campbell, Charlotte, ECU, Richmond & Xavier with medium interest

Scout - no stars

ESPN - 80 rating, 2 stars

Strengths: Shane is one of the hardest playing guys in the state of N.C. Depending on the system he's in he could be an undersized 4 or a power 3. He gets things done with effort. He possesses a strong upper body and he's a very good rebounder. He can also shoot it to 18 feet. His execution comes off physicality and effort.

Weaknesses:
He has to develop his skill package and needs to add post scoring moves and add more reliability to his perimeter game. If he does end up at the 3 he must improve his ballhandling.

Bottom Line:
Shane is a super student and his a high character kid. He’s overcome two knee injuries in high school. He’ll probably find a home in the Big South.

[font=arial]Whitfield transfers to team with Tyler Lewis
North Carolina is loaded with prospects in the class of 2012. One player flying under the radar is Shane Whitfield, a 6-foot-5 forward.
In an attempt to make a name for himself, Whitfield is transferring next year to Forsyth Country Day School (N.C.). There, he will team up with North Carolina State commit Tyler Lewis in hopes of increasing his recruitment.
“It’s better competition,” Whitfield said. “I want to get better everyday.”
Right now, Whitfield has offers from Delaware, American, Campbell and Holy Cross, with interest from Richmond, Charlotte and East Carolina.

Pamlico County High School is maybe 25 minutes away from me. Probably closer.

So what you’re saying is, instead of scouting this guy you just stroll on down to the local watering hole instead to get smashed and curse out the manager b/c he doesn’t have the Niners game on even when it’s not being carried?

lol I may have to do that as well, but yeah I will definitely head over to PCHS with anipalcraig this fall and get NNN a good scouting report on why he’s going to be better than Rodney White, Sean Colson, Jobey Thomas and Michael Beasley combined.

Both of you guys suck at reading comprehension. Read my post again, he isn’t going to be at PCHS any longer.

Come on moss, you know as well as anyone that I can’t read! I’m having my personal secretary type this out for me.

Well, there’s finally a serious green bleeder in town. Know off hand what Whitfield is doing over the summer?

All I can find out is he’s playing with NC Xpress on the travel circuit.

reclassifying to 2013

Per Alex Kline, has offers from Xavier, Davidson, George Mason, Bucknell, Boston U., and Georgia Southern.

From what his coach told me, we’re not recruiting him or anyone on the NC Xpress 17u travel team at this time.

his HS coach told me we’ve started recruiting him.
